Love for the sake of Allah.
Alhamdulillah, Loving a person for the sake of Allah is an act of worship.
As reported from the hadith,
It is reported on the authority of Anas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
There are three qualities for which any one who is characterised by them will relish the savour of faith: that he loves man and he does not love him but for Allah's sake alone; heis to whom Allah and His Messenger are dearer than all else; he who prefers to be thrown into fire than to return to unbelief after Allah has rescued him out of it.
Sahih Muslim 43 b.
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Verily. Allah would say on the Day of Resurrection: Where are those who have mutual love for My Glory's sake Today I shall shelter them in My shadow when there is no other shadow but the shadow of Mine.
Sahih Muslim 2566.
Narrated AbuDharr:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The best of the actions is to love for the sake of Allah and to hate for the sake ofAllah.
Sunan Abi Dawud 4599.
When we are to love a person, we should love him for the sake of Allah and same as when we are to hate a person, to hate him for the sake of Allah.
Loving and hating in islam is a worship and should be done for the sake of Allah
As Allah says,
At-Taubah 9:24
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allāh and His Messenger and jihād [i.e., striving] in His cause, then wait until Allāh executes His command. And Allāh does not guide the defiantly disobedient people."
