*Issues & Bismillah*
------------------------------
Questions asked -
"Tell me about bismillahi b4 fatiha in prayer. And must one say "Bismillahi rahman nirahim" quietly after finishing al-fatihah in order to begin the surah one will recite aloud? What if after fatiha, one begins recitation in the middle of a surah?".
*RESPONSE:*
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
*Basmalah Before Fatiha In Swalat:*
The scholars hold differing opinions about this issue. Yes. Some say that it is definitely a verse from al-Fātiḥah and it should be recited aloud in those prayers which are recited out-loud. They believe it is not correct unless the Basmalah is recited since it is part of the entire chapter of al-Fātiḥah.
Other scholars say that it is not a verse of al-Fātiḥah, but it is a separate verse from the book of Allah.
Now,
None of these Scholars, however, could be labeled *“wrong”* as both have their reasons.
Furthermore,
Reciting the Basmalah is mustahabb (encouraged), not obligatory. So, if Bismillah is not recited before every Fatiha or before every Surah, your Swalat will not be invalid.. It will be valid and accepted.
And,
Scholars have also said that it is mustahabb after fatiha if you are going to recite a surah from the beginning, then you should say the Basmalah, *apart from Surat al-Tawbah* , because the Basmalah is not recited at the beginning of it.. But after fatiha if you are reciting from the middle of a surah, then it is not mustahabb to recite the Basmalah.
*The Standing Committee said:*
The sound Sunnah indicates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited the Basmalah in prayer before al-Fatiha and before other surahs, apart from Surat al-Tawbah,,, *but he did not recite it out loud in the prayers in which he recited Qur’aan out loud* (ie - he recite the basmala silently where he make recitation loudly eg fajr, magreeb & ishai).
