*GAIN THE MERCY*
Gain The Mercy of Allāh from The Qur’ān
Imām Al-Layth ibn Sa’d (d.175H) would say: “Allāh’s mercy does not *hasten to anyone as fast as it does to the listener of the Qur’ān.”* He would then cite as proof for this the noble verse,
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ الْقُرْآنُ فَاسْتَمِعُوا لَهُ وَأَنْصِتُوا لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَ
“So when the Qur’ān is recited, then listen to it *and be silent that you may receive mercy.”* Qur’an 7:204.
See Al-Jāmiʿ li-aḥkām al-Qurʾān by Imām Al-Qurṭubī (1:18).
Reflections:
- Action plan: Start the *practice of listening to one full Sūrah a day* and read its translation.
- “listen to it” i.e. lend your ears so that you might understand its verses and learn from *its exhortation.*
- “and be silent” listen to it attentively, so that you might understand *and ponder. Tafsīr al-Tabari (13/244)*
- Clear your mind whilst listening so you can truly reflect.
- Just by listening to the Qur’ān the heart finds peace and tranquility unlike anything else.
*- We hear many words of mankind everyday of our lives, at times* those words make us smile, laugh or sad, but when we give time to listen attentively to the words *of Allāh it only relaxes and provides peace to* our heart, mind and body.
- If we say we truly love Allāh, shouldn't His words be the most *beloved to us?*
- It is one of the greatest ways to remember Allāh. Umar ibn al-Khattāb would *say to Abū Mūsa: Remind us of our Lord, and Abū Mūsa would* recite Qur’ān whilst they listened - Majmoū‘ *al-Fatāwa (11/626) of Imām Ibn Taymiyyah.*

May Allah accept it from you and us. Aameen
