This is a very important topic because Islam does not treat marriage merely as a relationship between a husband and wife; it is an ‘ibaadah (act of worship) and a covenant made before ALLAH Azzawajal. Therefore, the rights spouses have over one another are connected directly to their responsibilities towards ALLAH Azzawajal. So basically Marriage is a Commitment to ALLAH Azzawajal before It Is a Commitment to Each Other. Marriage in Islam is therefore an amaanah (trust).
