Let's continue with our studies of suurah Al-Mutaffifin. 

Verses 1–6. Warning to Those Who Cheat.

وَيْلٌ لِّلْمُطَفِّفِينَ

الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ

وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ

أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَٰئِكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ

لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

1. Woe to those who give less [than due].

2. Those who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

3. But when they give by measure or weight to them, they cause loss.

4. Do they not think they will be resurrected?

5. For a tremendous Day,

6. The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds.

Commentary

ALLAH Azzawajal begins this suurah with a terrifying word:

“Wayl” — destruction, doom, and severe punishment. The mutaffifin are people who demand their full rights but reduce the rights of others. This includes: Cheating in business, Underpaying workers, False advertising, Corruption, Breaking promises, Emotional or social hypocrisy etc. ALLAH Azzawajal connects dishonesty with weak belief in the Hereafter. A person truly aware of standing before ALLAH Azzawajal would fear oppressing others.

The phrase: “The Day mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds” shows the absolute seriousness of accountability. To be continued tomorrow in Shaa ALLAH. *_May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen.

Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him?
