                                       Undeniably, pornography is highly forbidden by Allaah (ﷻ). Allaah (ﷻ) says; *“Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts” . . . “And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts, . . .”*
(An-Nur 24:30-31)

Moreover, pornography results in numerous diseases of the soul, hardening of the heart, distancing a person from Allaah (ﷻ), abstaining from what is lawful, i.e. having illegal sexual intercourse or having the audacity to commit immorality and sins, and being rather lax regarding committing such wrongdoings.

Allaah (ﷻ) is against pornography whether open or hidden and other indecent acts in the privacy of the home or on the internet, which are all prohibited. Allaah ﷻ says;
*قُلْ إِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّىَ ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ*

*“Say, ‘My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed, . . .”*
(Al-A'raf 7:33).

That's to say, Allaah (ﷻ) is forbidding indecent acts, whether overt or hidden.

Allaah (ﷻ) asks us not to draw near to shameful things, be they open or secret and not to even go close to it. Allaah (ﷻ) says;
*وَلَا تَقْرَبُوا۟ ٱلْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَۖ*

*“. . . And do not approach immoralities -  what is apparent of them and what is concealed . . .”*
(Al-An'am 6:151).

Allaah (ﷻ) has mentioned this prohibition along with Shirk and Murder, which means that Allaah (ﷻ) considered shameful things like pornography among the major sins. Allaah (ﷻ) knows best. He (ﷻ) knows His creation . He (ﷻ) knows that we are weak. Therefore, He (ﷻ) likes us to stay away from shameful things.

Woe to those who propagate shameful things like this, for indeed, they will receive a painful torment except they repent sincerely.

Allaah (ﷻ) says; *“Indeed, those who like that immorality should be spread [or publicized] among those who have believed will have a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And Allaah knows and you do not know.”*
(An-Nur 24:19)

This stern warning embraces all the various forms that might be used to spread shameful and lewd behavior though any means be it pictures, films, or the internet.

The messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) said; *_“Allaah has written for Adam's son his share of adultery which he commits inevitably. The adultery of the eyes is the sight (to gaze at a forbidden thing), the adultery of the tongue is the talk, and the inner self wishes and desires and the private parts testify all this or deny it.”_*
(Sahih al-Bukhari 6243, Book 79, Hadith 17)

We all know that pornography is bad, and no reasonable person can openly claim any benefit in it. But we live in confusing times.

There are people who advocate for its use; a director of an adult film company once claimed in a panel discussion that adult films celebrate the identity of women, enhance their sexuality and by virtue of this, they empower women. Unfortunately, many others have also adopted this mindset. Pornographic pictures and movies are Haraam. Muslims should never watch, sell or make such movies.

The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) has said; *_“. . . The adultery of the eyes is the sight (to gaze at a forbidden thing), . . .”_*
(Sahih al-Bukhari 6243, Book 79, Hadith 17. See, Sunan Abi Dawud 2152, Book 12, Hadith 107)

We should appreciate the clear wisdom behind the prohibition of Zinaa, given its obvious harms. We should know that it's a poison, and incurring sin. Guarding your privates does not just mean the act of Zinaa itself, but everything that leads to the temptation, because; *_“actions are judged by Intention, so each man will have what he intended.”_*
(40 Hadith Nawawi, Hadith 1)

So fear Allaah (ﷻ) and fear the day you will be returned to Him (ﷻ).

Muslims are always commanded to lower their gaze. Remember, your eyes will testify against you on that day; *“. . . Indeed, the hearing, the sight, and the heart -  about all those [one] will be questioned.”*
(Al-Isra' 17:36).
