FAJR REMINDER: THE FURY OF HELL-FIRE
By: Umm Affān
Dhū al-Qa'dah 18, 1447 (6-May-2026)
On the Day of Reckoning, the Hell-Fire will intensify in fury, raging with such Shiddat (intensity) that parts of it will seem to tear away from one another out of sheer Ghaḍab (fury) against the criminals. Allāh says: “For those who disbelieve in their Lord (Allāh) is the torment of Hell, and worst indeed is that destination. When they are cast therein, they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath even as it blazes forth. It almost bursts up with fury…” [Sūrah Al-Mulk (67): 8-10]
Moreover, Hell will not be satisfied with those cast into it; rather, it will continue to demand more. The gravity of that Day will be beyond what we can fully comprehend, and the Waqi' (reality) is that the majority of people will end up therein. Allāh says: “On the Day when We will say to Hell: ‘Are you filled?’ It will say: ‘Are there any more (to come)?’” [Sūrah Qāf (50): 30]
And why would Hell-Fire not be enraged with the criminals? Consider the widespread disobedience to Allāh in our times—associating partners with Him, the shameless exposure of women's nudity, the normalization of Zinā (adultery and fornication), the increase in unjust killings, the widespread consumption of alcohol, and the pursuit of wealth through unlawful means such as gambling, Ribā (interest or usury), and theft. Even music and musical instruments are now widely regarded as permissible. These are clear signs of moral decline and rebellion against Divine Commands.
Hell-Fire is not something to be taken lightly. Its reality is far more severe than we may imagine. Allāh says: “And what will make you know exactly what Hell-Fire is? It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! Burning the skins! Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell).” [Sūrah Al-Muddathir (74): 27-30]
We must, therefore, take Allāh’s Warnings seriously and strive bikulli juhd (diligently) to protect ourselves from ever entering Hell-Fire—even for a moment.
I beseech Allāh to save us from it and admit us into Jannah. Aameen.
