Thus the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explained that this salaam spreads love and brotherhood. Muslim (54), Ahmad (2/391), and al-Tirmidhi (2513) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another.

*▫️. Paying attention to the tone and volume of voice, especially regarding parents and elders or leaders.* Q49:2-3, Q17:23. And Allaah says: “And be moderate in your pace and lower your voice; indeed, the most disagreeable of sounds is the voice of donkeys.” Q31:19.

Do you know early death is better for those who can’t keep quiet?!* Habib al-Jallab reported: I asked Ibn al-Mubarak, may Allah have mercy on him, “What is the best thing a human being can be given?” He said, “Innate intelligence.” I said, “What if it is not so?” He said, “Good manners.” I said, “What if it is not so?” He said, “A kind brother he can consult.” I said, “What if it is not so?” He said, “Long periods of silence.” I said, “What if it is not so?” He said, “An early death.” Siyar A’laam al-Nubalaa’ 7/376.

Do you know that there is no punishment for the fool like refusing to answer him?* Al-Qurtubi reported: A man insulted Qanbar, who was under the patronage of Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him. Ali called out to him, “O Qanbar! Leave one who insults you and ignore him. It will please the Merciful, displease Satan, and punish your insulter. No punishment for the fool is like refusing to answer him.” Tafseer al-Qurṭubee 41:33.

*▫️. Why must a Muslim argue on religious matter?!* Just convey the message, if they accept it from you, Alhamdulillaah, otherwise you should remain silent. Al-Haytam ibn Jamil reported: I said to Malik, “O servant of Allah, if a man knows the Sunnah, should he argue to defend it?” Malik, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “No, rather he should convey the Sunnah if they might accept it from him, otherwise he should remain silent.” Jaami’ al-‘Ulūm wal-Ḥikam 1/248.

*▫️. *Do you want to debate one who is founded upon innovation?! Waste of time!* Al-Bayhaqi reported: Al-Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, said, “I never debated anyone I knew to be founded upon innovation.” Al-Bayhaqi said, “This is because the one founded upon innovation rarely turns away from his innovation through debate. Indeed, he would only debate whomever it was hoped would turn to the truth if it were clarified to him”.

*▫️. Learn how to be silent to defeat Shaytaan.* ‘Aqil ibn Mudrik reported: A man said to Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, “Advise me.” Abu Sa’id said, “You must be silent except in the truth, for by it you will defeat Shaytaan.” al-Ṣamt li Ibn Abee Dunyaa 91.
*▫️. Remember, to speak little is part of faith.* Abu Umamah reported: The Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “Modesty and reticence are two branches of faith. Profanity and temerity are two branches of hypocrisy.” Al-Tirmidhi said,.

“Reticence is to speak little. Profanity is to speak obscenely. Temerity is to speak too often, such as those preachers who preach at great length and with eloquence, to be praised by people in what is not pleasing to Allah.” al-Tirmidhee 2027

Refraining from the common evils of the tongue.* People getting together and communicating with each other often leads to falling into various sins related to the tongue such as talking about something without knowledge, backbiting, slandering, mocking, lying, verbal abuse, insulting, cursing, violating rights of privacy and confidentiality etc.

The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: The Muslim is the one from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe. al-Bukhari 10.
*▫️. Choosing simple, concise words.* Avoiding complex language and sophisticated terminologies for a proper understanding of the listener or reader. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “I have been favored over the other Prophets in six ways: I have been given the gift of concise speech; ...” Muslim (523).
