CLOTHING OF THE PEOPLE OF HELL

 FAJR REMINDER: CLOTHING OF THE PEOPLE OF HELL

The people of Paradise shall be honoured with the finest and most luxurious garments. Among their blessings will be elegant clothing made of fine silk and adorned with gold embroidery, along with bracelets of gold, silver, and pearls. Their clothing will be beautiful, colourful, and far beyond anything known in this worldly life. Allāh (ﷻ) says: “...Therein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold, and they will wear green garments of fine and thick silk. They will recline therein on raised thrones. How good is the reward, and what an excellent Murtafaqah (dwelling, resting place, etc.)!” [Sūrah Al-Kahf (18): 31]


In contrast, the people of Hell will be clothed in garments specially prepared from fire itself. What a disgraceful and terrifying punishment! Allāh (ﷻ) says: “These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord; then as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them, boiling water will be poured down over their heads.” [Sūrah Al-Ḥajj (22): 19]


Another form of clothing for the inhabitants of Hell will be garments made from Qaṭirān (pitch or tar), a substance used to coat camels. This material intensifies flames and burns with extreme heat. Alongside this dreadful clothing, the Fire itself will engulf their faces. Allāh (ﷻ) says: “And you will see the Mujrimūn (criminals, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allāh Islāmic Monotheism, polytheists, disobedient to Allāh, etc.) that Day bound together in fetters; [Muqarranūn in fetters; mean:- with their hands and feet tied to their necks with chains.] Their garments will be of pitch, and fire will cover their faces.” [Sūrah Ibrāhīm (14): 49-50]


Furthermore, the skins of the people of Hell will continually be renewed whenever they are burnt away so that the punishment never decreases for them. Allāh (ﷻ) says: “Surely! Those who disbelieved in Our Āyāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) We shall burn them in Fire. As often as their skins are roasted through, We shall change them for other skins that they may taste the punishment. Truly, Allah is Ever Most Powerful, All-Wise.” [Sūrah An-Nisā' (4): 56]


The skin is among the greatest means through which pain is felt, and the continuous renewal of their skins is to ensure that the torment is constantly experienced without relief. Subḥānallāh! Hell is truly not a matter to be taken lightly.


I beseech Allāh (ﷻ) to protect us from the Fire of Hell and admit us into Jannah Al-Firdaws. Aameen.

Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him?
