THE MAN BEHIND ḤAJJ

FAJR REMINDER: THE MAN BEHIND ḤAJJ

By: Umm Affān

Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1, 1447 (18-May-2026)

It is indeed a tremendous blessing that Muslims from every corner of the world gather annually in the sacred city of Makkah during the month of Dhūl-Ḥijjah to perform the great pilgrimage known as Ḥajj. This remarkable act of worship remains the largest annual gathering of believers on earth.

The history of Ḥajj dates back to the era of our noble father, Prophet Ibrāhīm, and his son Ismā‘īl (‘Alayhimā Salām). As the fifth Pillar of Islām, Ḥajj serves as a powerful reminder of the immense trials, sacrifices, and unwavering obedience displayed by Prophet Ibrāhīm (‘Alayhi Salām) and his family in submission to Allāh.

By the Command of Allāh, both father and son (‘Alayhimā Salām) raised the foundations of His Sacred House, the Ka‘bah, which millions of Muslims continue to circumambulate today. From that moment, Ḥajj became a lasting tradition established through Prophet Ibrāhīm (‘Alayhi Salām), observed by believers from his time until this very day. This was in fulfillment of his heartfelt supplication: “Our Lord! And make us submissive unto You and of our offspring a nation submissive unto You, and show us our Manāsik (all the ceremonies of pilgrimage - Ḥajj and ‘Umrah, etc.), and accept our repentance. Truly, You are the One Who accepts repentance, the Most Merciful.” [Sūrah Al-Baqarah (2): 128]

Reflecting upon the status of Prophet Ibrāhīm (‘Alayhi Salām), we come to appreciate the greatness of this noble Messenger. He was among the distinguished Ulul ‘Azm — the Messengers of firm resolve — and one of the greatest among the Anbiyā‘. He was the father of many noble Prophets, the honoured predecessor of Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ), a shining example of righteousness, the leader of the Ḥunafā’ (upright monotheists), a reviver of Tawḥīd, a destroyer of falsehood and ignorance, and history’s great breaker of idols.

Such was his lofty rank that Allāh (ﷻ) selected him, honoured him, and took him as His Khalīl — His intimate friend. The Muslims, just like the righteous believers before them, have been instructed to follow the religion and path of Ibrāhīm (‘Alayhi Salām). Allāh (ﷻ) says: “And who can be better in religion than one who submits his face (himself) to Allāh (i.e. follows Allāh’s Religion of Islāmic Monotheism); and he is a Muḥsin (a good-doer). And follows the religion of Ibrāhīm Ḥanīfa (Islāmic Monotheism—to worship none but Allāh Alone). And Allāh did take Ibrāhīm as a Khalīl (an intimate friend).” [Sūrah An-Nisā' (4): 125]

Allāhu Akbar! What an extraordinary honour it is for a servant to attain the rank of being an intimate friend of Allāh. What sincerity, obedience, sacrifice, patience, and unwavering Tawḥīd must a person possess to reach such a lofty station?

I beseech Allāh (ﷻ) to shower His special Mercy upon Prophet Ibrāhīm. Aameen

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD

*BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?"' This is related by the group. 'Amr ibn Abasah reports that he heard the Prophet say: "The closest that a slave comes to his Lord is during the middle of the latter portion of the night. If you can be among those who remember Allah, the Exalted One, at that time then do so." This is related by al-Hakim who grades it sahih according to Muslim's standards, and at-Tirmizhi calls it hasan sahih. AnNasa'i and Ibn Khuzaimah also recorded it. Abu Muslim asked Abu Zharr: "Which late-night prayer is the best?" He said: "I asked the Messenger of A...
