THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Ath-thalaatha. 3rd day of Sha’abaan, 1445AH (Tuesday, 13th February 2024).
*_FASTING TO COVER PREVIOUS MISSED RAMADAN FASTING_*. BismilLahir.
Scholars agree that whoever did not fast some days of Ramadaan has to make up those days before the next Ramadaan whenever possible, including mothers who were sick during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
They quoted as evidence for that the hadeeth narrated by al-Bukhaari (1950) and Muslim (1146) from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) who said: “I used to have fasts that I still owed from Ramadaan, and I could not make them up until Sha’abaan, and that was because of the position of the Messenger of ALLAH (peace and blessings of ALLAH be upon him) [as a husband].”
ALLAH says
“And whoever is ill or on a journey, the same number [of days which one did not observe Sawm (fasts) must be made up] from other days”[al-Baqarah 2:185]
Please note that Pregnancy or Breastfeeding is not an excuse to stop fasting except if you become sick during the Pregnancy or by doctor's advice. Also feeding the poor does not replace your missed days of not fasting for any reason unless those old age or permanently sick persons who cannot fast again till death. As soon as possible you must fast to cover till death.
*_May ALLAH keeps guiding us and protect us through this upcoming blessed month_*. Aameen.
