ON PROSTATIC FLUIDS DURING THE FAST

Please I have a question asked by  someone.
She asked if her fast is void, that she gets wet from having conversation with someone she's in love with.
Does the getting wet void her fast?
I did however advised her to avoid conversion with the person, and if it's someone she's getting married to, she should keep it to the minimal, especially while fasting.
Jazakallah Khairan"

Wa alaykum Salaam Warahmatullaah Wabarakaatuh

Baarakallaahu feekum wajazaakumullaahu khayran.

The majority of the Fuqahaa: the Hanafis, the Shaafi'is and the Hanbalis all hold the position that ejaculation of the Mani (semen) only terminate the fast if it is accompanied with three things:

1. Ejaculation
2. Pleasure
3. Movement

What this means is that if a man or a women were to ejaculate the Mani simply due to thinking then as long as there was no movement of the body or a deliberate movement to of any part of the body, such an ejaculation could not be referred to as to have terminated the fast.

Same thing applies to if there were no pleasure in the ejaculation such as if cold or up and down movement was responsible for the ejaculation.

The evidence used by them to buttress this verdict is the Hadith Agreed upon by both Imaam Al-Bukhaari and Imaam Muslim:

ﺇﻥ الله ﺗﺠﺎﻭﺯ ﻷﻣﺘﻲ ﻋﻤﺎ ﻭﺳﻮﺳﺖ ﺃﻭ ﺣﺪﺛﺖ ﺑﻪ ﺃﻧﻔﺴﻬﺎ ﻣﺎ ﻟﻢ ﺗﻌﻤﻞ ﺑﻪ ﺃﻭ ﺗﺘﻜﻠﻢ . ﻣﺘﻔﻖ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ

"Indeed Allaah has overlooked for my Ummah the whisperings (of their heart), or the mere wishes of their minds as long as they do not act in its accordance or speak (about it)."

As for the prostatic fluid in men or the lubricant fluid in women (referred here as wetness), then the majority of the Fuqahaa as stated above hold that under no circumstances does it terminate the fast.

The Maalikis differ with the majority of the Ulamaa.

Al-Allaamatu Ahmad Ad-Dardir - rahimahullaah - said in 'Ash-Sharhu Al-Kabir' while mentioning the Conditions for which a Fast can be regarded sound:

ﻭﺗﺮﻙ ﺇﺧﺮﺍﺝ ﻣﻨﻲ ﻳﻘﻈﺔ ﺑﻠﺬﺓ ﻣﻌﺘﺎﺩﺓ، ﻭﺗﺮﻙ ﺇﺧﺮﺍﺝ ﻣﺬﻱ ﻛﺬﻟﻚ ﻻ ﺑﻼ ﻟﺬﺓ ﺃﻭ ﻏﻴﺮ ﻣﻌﺘﺎﺩﺓ

"And to avoid the ejaculation of Mani (semen) if it is accompanied with the accustomed  pleasure. Same way, to avoid the release of the prostatic fluid not without pleasure whether accustomed or not."

Al-Adwi - rahimahullaah - said while commenting on his statement above:

ﻗﻮﻟﻪ : ﻣﺬﻱ ﻋﻦ ﻓﻜﺮ ﺃﻭ ﻧﻈﺮ ﻭﻟﻮ ﻏﻴﺮ ﻣﺴﺘﺪﺍﻡ

"His wordings: Madhi (prostatic fluid) is meant either borne out of thought or gaze, even if it not persistent."

He mentions persistent because some of the majority mentioned that it terminates the fast if it were done persistently.

Imaam Al-Lakhmi al-Maaliki - rahimahullaah - posits that once a man or woman ejaculate the Mani (semen) while fasting simply due to thought, then his fast is nullified except that he would compensate (Qadaa) for the fast and not expiate (kaffaara). But if his thought were a persistent and deliberate one, then he must expiate (kaffaara) for it.

The same applies to the Madhi (prostatic fluid) except that in whichever case, they hold that it does not require anything but compensation (Qadaa).

Al-Kharshi - rahimahullaah - said:

" : ﻓﺈﻥ ﺣﺼﻞ ﻓﺎﻟﻘﻀﺎﺀ ﻭﺍﻟﻜﻔﺎﺭﺓ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻤﻨﻲ، ﻭﺍﻟﻘﻀﺎﺀ ﻓﻘﻂ ﻓﻲ ﺍﻟﻤﺬﻱ ﺃﺩﺍﻡ ﺃﻡ ﻻ . ﺍﻫ"

"And if something like that occurs, then Qadaa (compensation) and Kaffaara (expiation) is to be done for the Mani. While the Madhi requires only Qadaa even if it were persistent and deliberate."

The position taken by the majority is what is sound on this verdict due to the Hadith referred to.

Therefore, there is nothing wrong with the fast of the person referred but just as you advised her, she should try hard to avoid such discussions as much as she can.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will p
