Journey Prayer

It is said that one should offer 2 units of prayer before departing on a journey (salat al-khuruj ila’s-safar), and upon return from the journey (salat al-‘awda).

On the authority of Maqtam ibn al-Miqdam that he said, "The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wasalam) said, 'No one has left behind with their family anything better than two rak'ats offered at home when wanting travel.'"

Ka'ab ibn Malik relates, "The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wasalam) would not arrive from a journey except daytime in the forenoon, so if he arrived he started with the mosque and prayed two rak'ats in it then sat."
[Muslim]

Whoever desires to travel should offer two rak'ats of prayer in his home prior to traveling, and when he returns from his journey he should seek the mosque and offer two rak'ats therein.

Alhamdulillah, it is clear from Quran and hadiths that any christian who dies believing Jesus is God or son of God and do not believe in prophet Muhammad Peace be Upon Him will enter hellfire.  DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm al-khamis, 20th day of Swafar 1447AH, Thursday, 14th August 2025. *_PURIFICATION OF THE HEART_*. BismilLah.  A sister asked me yesterday how we can purify ourselves to achieve the immense benefits mentioned in our reminder yesterday.  The command to purify our hearts from sins was an essential Islamic teaching ever since the early stages of the revelation in Mecca. This is known as “purification of the soul” (tazkiyyat an-nafs).   ALLAH Azzawajal says: He has succeeded who purifies the soul, and he has failed who corrupts the soul. Surah Ash-Shams 91:9-10. Also, ALLAH Azzawajal says: A day when there will be no benefit in wealth or children, but only in he who comes to ALLAH Azzawajal with a pure heart. Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:88-89.  We learn from these verses that our success in the Hereafter depends upon the purification of our hearts in this life.
