THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Arba'a, 16th day of Rabeeul Awwal 1444AH. (Wednesday, 12th of October 2022). *_LYING IS FORBIDDEN AND HARAAM EVEN IF IN JOKES_*. BismilLah.
In Qur'an 9:119, ALLAH says;
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ ٱتَّقُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ
O you who have believed, be mindful of ALLAH and be with those who are truthful.
Narrated 'Abdullah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: The Prophet (s.a.w) said, "Truthfulness leads to Al-Birr (righteousness) and Al-Birr (righteousness) leads to Paradise. And a man keeps on telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person. Falsehood leads to Al-Fujur (i.e. wickedness - evildoing), and Al-Fujur leads to the (Hell) Fire. And a man keeps on telling lies until he is written as a liar before ALLAH." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 8/6094. AstaqfirulLah.
Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: ALLAH'S Messenger (S.A.W) said, "The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie; and whenever he promises, he breaks his promise; and whenever he is entrusted, he betrays (proves to be dishonest)." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 8/6095. Unfortunately some even swear by ALLAH whilst lying astaqfirullah.
*_May ALLAH protect us from lying and prevent us from hypocrisy_*. Aameen.
