Allah begins Surah Al-Baqarah by saying:

*الم*

_Alif Lam Mim_

*ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡكِتَٰبُ لَا رَيۡبَۛ فِيهِۛ هُدٗى لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ*

_This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of Allah_

[2:1-2]

Let's dwell into two Ayahs a little:

*الم*

_Alif Lam Mim_

Tafsir ibn Kathir goes into depth regarding this verse but let's summarise it here.

1. It shows the magnificence of the Qur'an, as the Arabs were expert linguists and poetry was big for them, so the Qur'an had to be above their capacity to comprehend and challenge, therefore Allah ﷻ used the letters themselves in a specific way to showcase His ﷻ Brilliance and Glory and amplify their weakness.

This is why Ayaat like it are repeated in other places, to make the challenge even more apparent!

2. The Ayaat are such that the wisdom of its true meaning is with Allah ﷻ.

Now coming to the second verse:

*ذَٰلِكَ الْكِتَابُ لاَ رَيْبَ فِيهِ*

_This is the book wherein there is no doubt._

[2:2]

The meanings are two.

No doubt in it being from Allah ﷻ and it being his Kalam.

And some scholars pointed out a prohibition "Do not Doubt the Qur'an"

*هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ*

_A guidance for the Muttaqeen_

[2:2]

Meaning is that it is only a guidance for the God Fearing.

As Allah ﷻ says:

*إِنَّ أَكۡرَمَكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ أَتۡقَىٰكُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِیمٌ خَبِیرࣱ*

_Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is that who has At-taqwa. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Acquainted._

[49:13]

_

The Muttaqeen.

The people of At-taqwa!

Who are they?

Ibn 'Abbas رضي الله عنه said _"Those who fear Allah's punishment, which would result if they abandoned the true guidance that they recognize and know. They also hope in Allah's mercy by believing in what He revealed"_

_

*And what is Taqwa?*

The root meaning of Taqwa is to avoid what one dislikes. It was reported that Umar bin Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه asked Ubayy bin Kab رضي الله عنه about Taqwa. Ubayy said, "Have you ever walked on a path that has thorns on it" 'Umar said, "Yes." Ubayy said, "What did you do then" He said, "I rolled up my sleeves and struggled." Ubayy said, *"That is Taqwa."*

Reflect..

_

May Allah ﷻ make us among the Muttaqeen and those who have Taqwa.

*آمين يا رب العالمين*

GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Ath-thalaatha. 28th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Tuesday 7th May 2024). *_GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD_*. Aameen.  Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: The Prophet (SallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "Charity is obligatory everyday on every joint of a human being.* If one helps a person in matters concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride on it or by lifting his luggage on to it, all these will be regarded as charity. A good word, and every step one takes to offer the compulsory congregational prayer is regarded as charity; and guiding somebody on the road is regarded as charity." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 4/2891]. To show gratitude to ALLAH for keeping your body safe and sound, you should give in charity or do charitable deeds. Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: ALLAH'S Messenger (sallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one w

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will p
