*SHOW MERCY TO THOSE WHO ARE ON EARTH AND THE ONE WHO IS IN HEAVEN WILL SHOW MERCY TO YOU*
*"Those who show mercy will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful."* (Hadīth)
The mercy of a mother to her children is explained very clearly in the hadīths of the Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him). It is the ideal of love and compassion, the wellspring of pity and compassion which the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) presented as a vivid example to explain the mercy of Allāh, the Almighty, All-Merciful, to His slaves. "Umar Ibn al-Khattāb (may Allāh be pleased with him) narrated that some female prisoners were brought to the Messenger of Allāh, and he saw a woman searching frantically. When she found a child, she hugged him to her chest and began to breastfeed him. The Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: "Do you think that this woman could throw her child into the fire?" They said: "No, by Allāh." He said: "Allāh is more merciful to His slaves than this woman to her child."
This was a woman who was taken captivate, was upset and full of grief. She had been a sovereign among her household, free under the care of the men of her tribe, obeyed in the house of her husband. Her captivity made her a slave to be ordered. She was in a situation where any person would forget what was going on around him, and his heart would be filled with pain, but that did not distract her from caring for her child, the apple of her eye. She searched high and low until she found him, then she clasped him to her breast. Such a woman would never allow her child to suffer any hut, no matter how slight, and she would defend him against any harm, no matter how insignificant. She would sacrifice herself to protect him.
*"Foul tongues cause more trouble to their owners than to their victims."*
