*Surah Yusuf, Verse 11:*
قَالُوا يَا أَبَانَا مَا لَكَ لَا تَأْمَنَّا عَلَىٰ يُوسُفَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَنَاصِحُونَ
They said: "O our father! Why do you not trust us with Yusuf (Joseph), - when we are indeed his well-wishers?"
#COMMENTARY
The plot having been formed, the brethren proceed to put it into execution. Jacob, knowing the situation, did not ordinary trust his beloved Joseph with the brethren. The latter therefore remonstrate and feign brotherly affection.

*Surah Yusuf, Verse 12:*
أَرْسِلْهُ مَعَنَا غَدًا يَرْتَعْ وَيَلْعَبْ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
"Send him with us tomorrow to enjoy himself and play, and verily, we will take care of him."
#COMMENTARY
They did not expect their protestations to be believed in. But they added an argument that might appeal both to Jacob and Joseph. 'They were going to give their young brother a good time. Why not let him come out with them and play and enjoy himself to his heart's content?'
