On cursing or abusing the sahaba.
~~~
I actually came across this incident in the Seerah where Khalid Bin Waleed the Saifullah engaged Abdurrahman Bin Auf in a verbal argument which resulted in Khalid cursing ibn Auf.
Upon seeing the tensions getting higher the Prophet stood up and made this powerful statement :
“Do not insult my companions. If one of you were to spend the likes of mount Uhud in gold, it would not reach a small portion of theirs or even half of that.” Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 3470.
That was a strong warning to Khalid and any one after Him that the companions of the Prophet were on a different level, not that Khalid wasn't a companion. However, Khalid was a later convert just a few months before the conquest of Makka. And yet the Prophet rebuked him for that.
Sadly now we see people who are the worst of the worst cursing and abusing the sahaba. How do you reconcile with that when you are going strictly against the instruction of the Man (SAW) you claim you love and respect?
May Allah guide them and us. As for the sahaba we say May Allah be pleased with them. Amin.
