*DISCIPLINING YOUR NAFS*

*REMEMBER THE NEXT LIFE*

Beware of the time you spend watching the TV or browsing through irrelevant websites on your phone. The amount of time we spend watching the TV or browsing the internet most times outweighs the time we spend improving our spiritual lives. Most of us now prefer to watch our 'favorite' TV serials while ignoring our salah at its appropriate time, we derive joy in knowing the biographies and net worth of our 'favorite' actors, footballers or athletes than reading the Qur'an, we prefer listening to music than engaging in the remembrance of Allaah (ﷻ).

_This world is like the most hideous woman; she veils her face while revealing her eyes by which she seduces the people. She invites the people to her home. If they accept her invitation she reveals herself, slaughters them with her knife and throws them into a hole. She gains mastery over her lovers and does this to them time and time again. Amazingly, her lovers see their slain brothers who have fallen victim, yet they compete for the same thing their brothers have fallen victim to._

(Ad-Dunya wa haqeeqatuha by Ibn Al-Qayyim, page 52)

Ponder on the above similitude of this world; don't let the amusement of this world deceive you.

As Allaah (ﷻ) says:

*… وَمَا ٱلۡحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡيَآ إِلَّا مَتَٰعُ ٱلۡغُرُورِ*

*…And what is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion.*

(Aal-e-Imran 3:185)

Most times, we know what we do has an effect on our lives but our nafs tend to control us when it should be the other way round.

Imam al-Aajurri (رحمه الله) said:

_How bad is the situation of the one who neglects to discipline his nafs and train it on the basis of knowledge; and how good is the situation of the one who pays attention to disciplining his nafs and knows what Allaah has enjoined upon him and what He has forbidden to him, and he is patient in going against the whims and desires of his nafs, and seeks the help of Allaah the Almighty in doing so._ End quote.

(Adab an-Nufoos, p. 17)

Remember, good deeds are the currencies used in the hereafter; so what deeds have we saved for the life after this? You wouldn't want your Book of deeds to be full of series of movies or music.

We ask Allaah (ﷻ) to keep us steadfast upon the deen and grant us the ability to control our whims and desires.

*آمين*

GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Ath-thalaatha. 28th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Tuesday 7th May 2024). *_GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD_*. Aameen.  Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: The Prophet (SallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "Charity is obligatory everyday on every joint of a human being.* If one helps a person in matters concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride on it or by lifting his luggage on to it, all these will be regarded as charity. A good word, and every step one takes to offer the compulsory congregational prayer is regarded as charity; and guiding somebody on the road is regarded as charity." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 4/2891]. To show gratitude to ALLAH for keeping your body safe and sound, you should give in charity or do charitable deeds. Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: ALLAH'S Messenger (sallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one w

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will p
