 FAJR REMINDER: THE MARTYRDOM HE LONGED FOR By: Umm Affān Ṣafar 17, 1448 (1-August-2026) Thābit Ibn Qays (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) was a courageous companion of the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ), renowned for his powerful speech and steadfastness. He participated in the battles after Uḥud, always longing for the martyrdom that the Prophet (ﷺ) had foretold for him. The Prophet (ﷺ) had given Thābit (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) glad tidings that he would live a praiseworthy life, be martyred, and enter Paradise. But years passed. Battle after battle came and went, yet Thābit (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) remained alive. He continued to fight, carrying in his heart a longing for the honour he had been promised. Then came the Khīlafah of Abū Bakr aṣ-Ṣiddīq (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu). The Muslim community faced a grave threat from those who had apostatised or rebelled against the authority of Islām.  *_DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER_* Yaum As-sabt | 18th day of Safar, 1448 AH | Saturday, 1st August, 2026. *_TAFSEER OF SŪRAH AN-NAAZI'AAT (Qur'an 79) continues_*. BismilLahir Rahmanir Raheem.  Let's continue with our studies of suurah An-Naazi'aat from verse 16-17. Please read verse 15 of yesterday's reminder to understand this verses well. Verse 16 إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى "When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Ṭuwā." Meaning: ALLAH Azzawajal spoke directly to Musah عليه السلام in the blessed valley of Ṭuwā near Mount Sinai. This was the beginning of Musah's prophethood. ALLAH Azzawajal honoured him by speaking to him directly, which is why he is known as Kalīmullāh (the one to whom ALLAH spoke). ALLAH Azzawajal says elsewhere: "Indeed, I am ALLAH.  FAJR REMINDER: IS YOUR GHUSL VALID? By: Umm Affān Ṣafar 16, 1448 (31-July-2026) For Ghusl (i.e., ritual washing of the entire body to attain purification after major impurity) to be valid, two essential conditions must be fulfilled: 1. Intention (Niyyah) Every act of worship begins with intention. It is the intention that distinguishes an act of Ghusl performed for purification from an ordinary bath. Before beginning Ghusl, make the intention in your heart to remove the state of major impurity so that you can perform acts of worship such as Ṣalāh. Since intention is an action of the heart, there is no need to verbalize it, as the Prophet (ﷺ) never did so. 2. Water must reach every part of the body This is the second essential requirement for a valid Ghusl. Everything beyond these two essentials is from the Sunnah and earns additional reward. Determined to honour her integrity, the Khalīfah, ‘Umar Ibn al-Khaṭṭāb (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu), summoned both her and her mother to his court. As they stood before the leader of the Muslims, the mother trembled with fear, overwhelmed by the gravity of the moment. Her daughter, however, remained calm, composed, and confident. Such is the strength that accompanies truthfulness. A person who has committed no wrongdoing has little reason to fear standing before a just ruler. In the presence of those gathered, the Khalīfah recounted how he had overheard the conversation between the mother and her daughter concerning the adulteration of the milk.  FAJR REMINDER: WHEN TAQWĀ SHAPES DESTINY By: Umm Affān Ṣafar 14, 1448 (29-July-2026) How true is the Statement of Allāh (ﷻ): “Is there any reward for good other than good?” [Sūrah Ar-Raḥmān (55): 60]  For the honesty of the milkmaid, the Khalīfah ‘Umar (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) said: “A daughter like her would be a great wife for my son. Someday she would make a good mother—strong, honest, and a great role model. Because she is so good, she should be given the greatest gift in the nation. Everyone in the nation should learn how to be good like her.” This teaches us that obedience deserves recognition, just as wrongdoing deserves accountability. It is therefore from wisdom that leaders and parents encourage righteousness by honouring those who demonstrate sincerity, honesty, and upright conduct. After overhearing the conversation between the mother and her daughter, the Khalīfah, ‘Umar Ibn Al-Khaṭṭāb (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu), became aware of the mother's intention. The following day, he sent a man to purchase milk from her. To his surprise and delight, the milk had not been adulterated. The young woman had remained true to her principles, refusing to obey her mother in an act of disobedience to Allāh. She recognised the difference between right and wrong and chose the pleasure of her Lord over the approval of her mother. What a remarkable example of sincerity, courage, and steadfastness! This incident offers timeless lessons for every Muslim.
