*Peace be upon you all.*
*They Ate Our Food.*
*And Forgot Our Names.*
*How sad and selfish for someone to eat your food and forget your name! Yet, it is exactly how some people treat us or even worse it is how we treat others sometimes. To eat someone's food is to enjoy benefits or kindness from the person. And to forget someone's name in this context is to treat that person unfairly. Thus, to eat a person's food and forget his or her name is to dismiss or disregard the person after being kind to you. Remembering a person's name is the least thing you can do for the person after being very kind to you. Are you one of those people who only think about their stomach? Have you eaten people's food and forgotten their names? I think this proverb somehow describes how we Africans have been mistreated by the millions of tourists that visit our continent. To me they not only forget our names, they tarnish our name and some even dare to use our names to make wealth for themselves. They flood the media with selected images of poor, hungry, naked African children. Some form NGOs which they use to siphon money from large organizations mainly for themselves. But we are not commodities to be used. We are caring people to be appreciated. Be appreciative!*
