FAJR REMINDER: PROTECTION AGAINST DAJJĀL (II)
By: Umm ‘Affān
Jumādā al-Ākhirah 20, 1447 (12-December-2025)
It is crucial to always remember the need to seek Allāh’s Protection from the trials posed by Dajjāl. Abū Dardā’ (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Whoever memorizes ten verses from the beginning of Sūrah Al‐Kahf will be protected from the Dajjāl” – referring to his Fitnah. In another narration, it is stated: “…From the last ten verses of Sūrah Al-Kahf.” [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 809]
Imām An‐Nawawī (Raḥimahullāh) elaborated on the above, stating: “The reason for this is because at the beginning of (this Sūrah), mention is made of wonders and signs, and whoever reflects on them will not be misled by the Fitnah of the Dajjāl. At the conclusion of this Sūrah, Allāh says: ‘Do then those who disbelieve think that they can take My slaves as Awliyā’ (lords etc.) besides Me?’ [Sūrah Al‐Kahf (18): 102] [Sharḥ an-Nawawī ‘alá Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 6/93]
Certainly, Sūrah Al‐Kahf holds significant importance. Therefore, every Muslim should make an effort to memorize and read it frequently, particularly on the best day, which is Friday.
Furthermore, it is essential to stay away from Dajjāl due to the confusion he will create and the extraordinary phenomena that will accompany him, which Allāh will allow to occur as a test for humanity. A person may approach Dajjāl, believing himself to be a staunch believer, only to end up following him. ‘Imrān Ibn Ḥusayn (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anhu) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) instructed: “Whoever hears of the Dajjāl, let him keep far away from him, for a man will come to him and think that he is telling the truth because of the wonders that are sent with him.” [Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4319]
I sincerely ask Allāh to provide us refuge from the trials of Dajjāl. Aameen.
