DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm al-ithnayn, 13th day of RabeeulAwwal, 1446AH (Monday, 16th September 2024). *_FASTING IS A SHIELD FOR OUR EEMAAN_*. BismilLah.
The purpose of fasting is to develop the quality of righteousness (taqwa), inwardly and outwardly, by abstaining from sinful deeds and training ourselves to control our thoughts and desires Fasting is a deeply spiritual practice that is meant to benefit us in body, mind, and heart.
Our beloved Messenger of ALLAH said:
Fasting is a shield from the Hellfire just like the shield of any of you in battle: Sunan Ibn Mājah 1639.
There are three levels of fasting that correspond to its outward and inward components: abstaining from food and drink, abstaining from sins, and abstaining from bad thoughts.
ALLAH says:
O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you that you may become (TAQWAH) righteous. Quran 2:183.
The word taqwa comes from the root meaning “to guard” and it is variously translated as mindfulness, righteousness, and Godfearing piety. Fasting is meant to instil this virtuous quality within us and its associated virtues of good character, generosity, patience, purity of heart, and so on. In this way, fasting acts as a shield that protects us from sin and ultimately from the punishment of ALLAH in the Hereafter.
Highly recommended fasting start from today to Thursday, the 4 golden days to fast, which are all part of the sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam. *_May ALLAH keep guiding us all and protect us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen.
