The prohibition to talk while imam delivers khutbah.
Alhamdulillah, as we know it is forbidden for the person who comes to jum'uah to talk while imam delivers the khutbah.
As reported in hadith,
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“If you say to your companions: ‘Be quiet’ on a Friday while the Imam is delivering the sermon, you have engaged in Laghw (idle talk or behaviour).”.”
Sunan ibn Majah
Vol. 1, Book 5, Hadith 1110.
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (RA)::
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "Whoever speaks on Friday while the Imam is giving the Khutbah (religious talk), he is like a donkey which carries books; andhe who tells him to be quiet has no Jumu'ah." [Reported by Ahmad with an acceptable chain of narrators].
Bulugh ul maram.
Book 2, Hadith 374.
So talking while imam delivers, one has no reward for the friday prayer.
Some scholars even say one has to pray the prayer again after the imam finishes the prayer.
So one is to keep silent as the imam delivers the khutbah.
There is reward for going to the friday prayer early to listen to the khutbah.
Abu Hurairah R. A reported saying,
When it is Friday, the angels stand at every door of the mosque and record the people in the orderof their arrival, and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit for delivering the sermon) they fold up their sheets (manuscripts of the Qur'an) and listen to the mention (of Allah). And he who comes early is like one who offers a she-camel as a sacrifice, the next like one who offers a cow, the next a ram, the next a hen, the next an egg.
Sahih Muslim 850 b.
So going to the friday early to listen to the khutbah has a great reward.
May Allah s.w.t guide and aid us in this deen. Aamin
