If your character is negative, you have the power and the choice to do what it takes to alter it. The greatest power we have as human beings is the power of choice.

Even Angels don't have that power. They are commanded to do whatever ALLAH wishes but ALLAH has giving us the power of choice to act good for HIS Paradise or act bad for HIS hell fire. 

Almighty ALLAH says in Quran [76:3]

“I have shown human being the way to be either grateful or ungrateful.” This is simply about choice, either to be thankful and turn towards the way of ALLAH or being ungrateful and turn towards your own heart desires.

We must always seek guidance and forgiveness from ALLAH through dua such as the following;

"Our Lord! We have indeed believed: forgive us our sins, and save us from the

punishment of the Fire" 

(Qur’aan: 3:16). 

الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا إِنَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

"Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the Faith, and put not in

our hearts any hatred against those who have believed. Our Lord! You are indeed full of

Kindness, Most Merciful." 

(Qur’aan: 59:10).  رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلِإِخْوَانِنَا الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلًّا لِّلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَّحِيمٌ 

say: "O my Lord! grant me Your forgiveness and mercy for You are the Best of those who

show mercy!" (Qur’aan: 23:118).

 رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ وَارْحَمْ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ الرَّاحِمِي
