بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Zubair ibn al-awam (ra) named his children after martyrs, so that perhaps they too would be awarded martyrdom by Allah the Almighty.. Abdullah was named after Abdullah bin Jahsh (ra); Munzir was named after Munzir bin Amr (ra); Urwah was named after Urwah bin Mas‘ud (ra); Hamza was named after Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib (ra); Jafar was named after Jafar bin Abi Talib (ra); Mus‘ab was named after Mus‘ab bin Umair (ra); Ubaidah was named after Ubaidah bin Harith (ra); Khalid was named after Khalid bin Saeed (ra); Amr was named after Amr bin Saeed (ra).. Amr bin Saeed (ra) was martyred in the Battle of Yarmuk. 📚 (al-Tabaqaat-ul-Kubra li ibn Sa‘d, Vol. 3, p. 74, Zubair(ra) bin al-Awwam, Dar-ul-Kutub al-Ilmiyyah, Beirut, 1990)

*Lessons:*

Continuation of the previous episodes - as promised:

*The right time to name the baby & the 7th day after baby born:*

When we as the parent should give a name to our child in Islam? One of the right time to give a name on a child is when the baby is born.

Or

There is another Sunnah how the right time to give a name on a child, it is the seventh day of aqiqah. However, some Ulama argues that give a name before the newborn of the baby or after one or two days of the birthday is allowed in Islam.

Evidences:

“My son was born, then I brought him to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). And then he gave him the name Ibrahim (Abu Musa’s eldest son), he fed him with chewing dates and prayed for them blessedly, after that he gave them to me.” 📚(Bukhari)

“Every child is mortgaged with his aqiqah, is cleansed for him on the seventh day, shaves his hair and given a name.” 📚(Abu Dawud, An-Nasai, Ibn Majah, and Ahmad)

*Illegitimate children:*

All ilegitimate children however,, may not be ascribed to their biological father even if the father is known beyond doubt😳. Yes.

✍Abu Hurayrah (RA) and more than twenty (20) other companions narrated that Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) said:

“The child belongs to the owner of the mattress, and the adulterer deserves a stone, i.e. is a loser.”

*Ascribing the child to the father & Surname issue:*

Ascribing a child to other than its father is a major sin😳. Yes. Allah say:

"Call them by [the names of] their fathers; it is more just in the sight of Allah. But if you do not know their fathers - then they are [still] your brothers in religion and those entrusted to you.. And there is no blame upon you for that in which you have erred but [only for] what your hearts intended.. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful." 📚Qur'an: Al-Ahzaab (33:5)

✍ Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas and Abu Bakrah (RA) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said:

“Anyone who relates himself to other than his true father, knowing that he is not his father, Jannah will be then prohibited for him.” 📚 Recorded by al-Bukhari, Muslim and others.

Now,

Even new reverts to Islam should not also change their father's name who is not a Muslim

*To help illustrate this point, examine the following:*👇

🔵 Ramlah bint Abi Sufyan: The Mother of the believers, the wife of the Prophet, (pbuh), married the Prophet before her father himself became a Muslim. Yet, she did not change her name and the Prophet, sallallahu alayhe wa sallam, did not order her to change it, although he was one of the Prophet's strongest enemies at the time.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm athalaatha, 3rd day of Rabeeul Awwal 1447AH, Tuesday, 26th August 2025. *_THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF_*. BismilLah.  Islam encourages Muslims in general to stand out among people, readily distinguishable by their dress, appearance and behaviour, so that they will be a good example, worthy of the great message that they bring to humanity. According to the hadith narrated by the great Sahabi Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam ) told his Companions, when they were travelling to meet some brothers in faith: "You are going to visit your brothers, so repair your saddles and make sure that you are dressed well, so that you will stand out among people like an adornment, for ALLAH (SWT) does not love ugliness." Reported by Imam Abu Dawud, 4/83, in Kitab al-libas, bab ma ja'a fi isbal al-izar. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) considered an unkempt and careless appearance, and scruffy clothes and furnishings, to be...
