بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Zubair ibn al-awam (ra) named his children after martyrs, so that perhaps they too would be awarded martyrdom by Allah the Almighty.. Abdullah was named after Abdullah bin Jahsh (ra); Munzir was named after Munzir bin Amr (ra); Urwah was named after Urwah bin Mas‘ud (ra); Hamza was named after Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib (ra); Jafar was named after Jafar bin Abi Talib (ra); Mus‘ab was named after Mus‘ab bin Umair (ra); Ubaidah was named after Ubaidah bin Harith (ra); Khalid was named after Khalid bin Saeed (ra); Amr was named after Amr bin Saeed (ra).. Amr bin Saeed (ra) was martyred in the Battle of Yarmuk. 📚 (al-Tabaqaat-ul-Kubra li ibn Sa‘d, Vol. 3, p. 74, Zubair(ra) bin al-Awwam, Dar-ul-Kutub al-Ilmiyyah, Beirut, 1990)

*Lessons:*

The effect of a good name on the child

What is the reason in Islam, we should give our child a good name? Indeed, while we are giving a good name on the child, it is one of a good deed in Islam. This good deed also gets many rewards. Below the following here The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said in this hadith.

Evidence:

“Whoever starts working on good deeds in Islam, then he will get the reward and reward of the person who imitates the act.” 📚(Muslim)

*Points to Consider When Naming a Child in Islam:*

It is good to pay attention to a number of matters when giving names to our children, including the following:

➡️ Recognizing the fact that this name will stay with the person for his entire lifetime, and it could cause some embarrassment or problems for him or her which in turn could make him or her feel badly towards his/her father, mother or whoever gave the name.

➡️ When looking at names in order to choose one, we should look at it from a number of angles. We should look at the name itself, and also think of how it will sound when this person is a child, a youth, an adult, an old man and a father, and how it will suit his father to be called “Abu” (Father of) So and So, and how it will suit his son to be called Son and so son of So and So, etc.

➡️ Choosing the name is the right of the father, because he is the one after whom the child will be named (son of, or daughter of…). But it is mustahabb for the father to involve the mother in the decision and to ask for her opinion as to whether she thinks the name is good, so that she will feel happy.

➡️ The child must be named after his father even if the father is deceased or divorced, etc., even if he does not take care of the child or see him at all. It is utterly haram to name a child after anyone other than his father, except in one case, which is when the child is born as the result of adultery (Allah forbid). In this case the child should be named after his mother and it is not permissible to name him after his father.

*The right time to give a name:*

When we as the parent should give a name to our child in Islam? One of the right time to give a name on a child is when the baby is born. Yes. Below the following is a hadith that tells us about when a baby from a friend of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) born. He brought his baby to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and then he gave the baby a good name, Ibrahim.

“My son was born, then I brought him to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). And then he gave him the name Ibrahim (Abu Musa’s eldest son), he fed him with chewing dates and prayed for them blessedly, after that he gave them to me.” 📚(Bukhari)

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm athalaatha, 3rd day of Rabeeul Awwal 1447AH, Tuesday, 26th August 2025. *_THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF_*. BismilLah.  Islam encourages Muslims in general to stand out among people, readily distinguishable by their dress, appearance and behaviour, so that they will be a good example, worthy of the great message that they bring to humanity. According to the hadith narrated by the great Sahabi Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam ) told his Companions, when they were travelling to meet some brothers in faith: "You are going to visit your brothers, so repair your saddles and make sure that you are dressed well, so that you will stand out among people like an adornment, for ALLAH (SWT) does not love ugliness." Reported by Imam Abu Dawud, 4/83, in Kitab al-libas, bab ma ja'a fi isbal al-izar. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) considered an unkempt and careless appearance, and scruffy clothes and furnishings, to be...
