*A WOMAN THAT OFFERED HERSELF AS A SACRIFICE AND THUS EARNED THE PLEASURE OF HER LORD*
*Tomorrow the sun will rise and gladden your heart.* Have you heard of the Juhani woman who made a mistake and committed zinā (fornication), then she remembered Allāh and turned to Him in repentance, and she came to the Messenger of ALLĀH (Blessings and Peace be upon him) wanting him to stone her and purify her? She came pregnant as a result of zinā, and said, "O' Messenger of ALLĀH, I have committed a sin that deserves a hadd (legal punishment), so carry out the punishment on me." The prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) called her guardian and said: "Treat her kindly, then when she gives birth come to me." He did that, then the prophet ordered that her clothes be tied tightly around her, then he ordered that she be stoned. Then he offered the funeral prayer for her. 'Umar said to him: "O' Messenger of Allāh, are you praying for her when she has committed zinā?" He (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: "She has repented in such a way that if it were shared among seventy of the people of Madīnah, it would be sufficient for them. Can you find any better than one who sacrificed herself for the sake of Allāh?"
It was strong faith that motivated her to seek purification and to choose the Hereafter over this world. If she had not had such strong faith, she would not have preferred death by stoning.
Someone might object by saying, why did she commit zinā? Wasn't that no more than the result of weak faith? The answer is that a person may become weak and make a mistake, because he was created from weakness, and he may slip because he is created of haste (cf. Qur'an 21:37), and he may go astray for a brief moment because he is imperfect. But when the seed of faith grows in his heart and bears fruit, his good essence and strong faith will be made manifest. This is what made this woman rush to the Messenger of ALLĀH (Blessings and Peace be upon him) and ask him to purify her, so she sacrificed herself in pursuit of the pleasure, mercy and forgiveness of Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala).
