*YOU WILL ADAPT TO YOUR SITUATION AND COPE WITH IT*
*Say (O' Muhammad): "Allāh rescues you from this and from all (other) distress..." [Qur'an 6:64]*
I know a man who had his foot amputated, so I went to console him. He was a wise and knowledgeable man, and I wanted to tell him:
"The Ummah (nation) does not expect you to be a fast runner or a champion wrestler; rather, and you still have that, praise be to Allāh, the Exalted."
When I visited him, he said to me:
"Praise be to Allāh, this foot of mine stayed with me for decades, and it was a good companion. But my religious commitment is what comforts me."
A wise man said:
"Peace of mind can only be acquired by accepting the worst-case scenario."
The reason for that, from a psychological point of view, is that acceptance releases energy. But in spite of that, thousands upon thousands of people destroy their lives in a moment of anger, because they refuse to accept the bitter reality and save whatever can be saved, instead of trying to build up their hopes from scratch and indulging in a bitter fight with the past, so they give in to that anxiety that serves no purpose.
According to the Islamic viewpoint, regretting past failures and weeping bitterly for past pain and defeat are manifestations of disbelief in Allāh, the Almighty, and discontent with what He has decreed.
