BismilLah.  Our scholars have explained based on the Qur'an and Sunnah of our beloved Messenger of ALLAH sallallahu alaihi wasallam that the amount of Zakaatul Fitir is the same for everyone regardless of their different income brackets. The minimum amount is one Sa` (two handfuls) of food such as grain or dried fruit for each member of the family. This calculation is based on Ibn `Umar's report that the Prophet (peace be upon him) made Zakah al-Fitr compulsory and payable by a Sa` of dried dates or a Sa` of barley. The Sahabi, Abu Sa`id al-Khudri said, "In the Prophet's time, we used to give it (Zakah al-Fitr) as a Sa` of food, dried dates, barley, raisins or dried cheese". Allaah condemned the one who does this (interpretation of the meaning): "And obey not everyone who swears much, - and is considered worthless, a slanderer, going about with calumnies." [al-Qalam 68:10-11] Hudhayfah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "No eavesdropper will enter Paradise." This is something which Allaah has forbidden His slaves, and has drawn the most repulsive analogy to put them off. He says (interpretation of the meaning): “. . . neither backbite one another. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it . . .” [al-Hujuraat 49:12] The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explained the meaning of this aayah. He said: “Do you know what gheebah (gossip or backbiting) is?” They said, “Allaah and His Messenger know best.” He said: "To say something about your brother that he does not want to be said."  *STORY OF THE DAY* A Feast For Clothes Once upon a time in the Iranian city of Shiraz, there lived the famous poet Sheikh Saadi. Like most other poets and philosophers, Sheikh Saadi was not a rich man. He led a very simple life. A rich merchant of Shiraz invited Sheikh Saadi along with a lot of other big businessmen of the town on the occasion of his daughter's marriage which was to be a grand affair. Sheikh Saadi accepted the invitation and decided to attend. On the day of the wedding, the host and his family were receiving the guests at the gate. They were ushering all the guests towards the dining hall. All the rich people of the town attended the wedding. They had come out in best of their attires. She (`A'ishah) had been overhearing it from behind the curtain. `A'ishah added that he (the person) had said: “O Messenger of Allah, (the time) of prayer overtakes me as I am in a state of Janabah (major impurity); should I observe fasting? Upon this the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: “Me also prayer overtakes me while I am in a state of Janabah, and I observe fast (in that very state).” The man said: “O Messenger of Allah, you are not like us Allah has pardoned all your sins, the previous ones and the later ones.  The 30 Muharamat (Prohibitions) (Part 23) Theme: Consuming haraam wealth ◉༺══• The person who does not fear Allaah does not care where he earns his money or how he spends it; his only concern is to increase his bank balance, even if it is haraam and illgotten by means of theft, bribery, extortion, forgery, selling haraam things, riba (usury), consuming an orphan’s wealth, earnings from haraam work like fortune-telling, immorality or singing, stealing from the Muslim treasury or public property, taking people’s money by coercion or high-pressure sales tactics, begging when one is not in need, etc.  Then he buys food, clothing and transportation with this ill-gotten money, and builds or rents a house, and furnishes it, and fills his stomach with haraam food.  The 30 Muharamat (Prohibitions) (Part 22) Theme: Not giving gifts equally to one’s children ◉༺══• Some people show favouritism in the way they give gifts to some of their children but not others. According to the soundest opinion, doing this is haraam unless there is some legitimate reason, such as one child being in greater need than the others due to sickness, being in debt, being rewarded for having memorized the entire Qur’aan, being unable to find a job, having a large family, being a full-time student, etc. When a father gives something to one of his children who is in need, he should have the intention to give similarly to any other children of his should the need arise. General proof of this principle may be seen in the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): “. . .  DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS.  Yaumul Ahad, 23rd day of Ramadhan. (Sunday, 24th of April, 2022). *_KEEP SEEKING OUT LAYLATUL QADR (Night of Power)_*. BismilLah.  So valuable is this Night of Qadr that the Quran devotes a special surah to it “Lailatul Qadr is better than a thousand months” [97:3] This one night surpasses the value of 30,000 nights. The most authentic account of the occurrence of the Night indicates that it can occur on any one of the last ten, odd numbered nights of Ramadhan. We should strive to stay up at least some hours before fajir set in these last few days left because if we pray on these nights then surely we would have caught this most powerful night if not gone already and this would mean we would have a reward of 83 YEARS OF WORSHIP and our sins forgiven! I will never advice anyone to rely only on certain nights in worship at night else you end up missing this great night.
