10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 12)

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 12) *10. They are conscious of Allah Subḥānahu wa Ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He) in conflict* There isn’t a single marriage where there isn’t any conflict or disagreement of some sort or degree. It is only *the way in which conflicts are managed* that distinguishes the health of one marriage from the other. Of all the ways to manage and minimize marital conflict, the most powerful way is remembering that Allah Subḥānahu wa Ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He) is watching our every single move and expression, and hearing our every single word. And it is all being recorded for a Day when He Subḥānahu wa Ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He) will be the Judge. Bringing this to mind during conflict helps us refrain from giving in to our lower selves and the whispers of Shaytan in the heat of the moment, and saves the marriage from a lot of irreversible, long-term damage. The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of...

A WOMAN FROM AMONG THE PEOPLE OF PARADISE

*A WOMAN FROM AMONG THE PEOPLE OF PARADISE* *"Success means that your name is on everyone's lips."* 'Atā' ibn Abi Rabāh Narrated: Ibn Abbas (may Allāh be pleased with him) said to me: "shall I not show you a woman from among the people of Paradise?" I said, "Yes." He said: "This black woman came to the prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) and said: 'I suffer from epilepsy, and I become uncovered. Pray to Allāh for me.' He said: 'If you wish, you can bear it with patience and paradise will be yours, or if you wish I can pray to Allāh to heal you.' She said: 'I will be patient, but I become uncovered; pray to Allāh that I will not become uncovered.' So he prayed for her." This pious, believing woman accepted a problem that stayed with her throughout her transient worldly life, so that she could attain paradise. She made a good deal, for she was one of the people of Paradise. But she did not like to be...

THE WOMAN WHO OFFERS SUPPORT AT THE TIME OF CALAMITY

*THE WOMAN WHO OFFERS SUPPORT AT THE TIME OF CALAMITY* *"And whatever of blessings (and good things) you have, it is from Allāh..." [Qur'an 16:53]* In at-Tabaqāt, it is Narrated that Fātimah az-Zahrā' (may Allāh be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him), used to go hungry for days. One day her husband 'Ali (may Allāh be pleased with him) noticed that she looked pale, and asked her, "What is the matter with you, O' Fātimah?" She said, "For three days we have not not found anything to eat in the house." He said, "Why did you not tell me?" She said: "My father, the Messenger of Allāh, told me on the night I got married: 'O' Fātimah, if 'Ali brings you something then eat it, and if he does not, then do not ask him.'" But many women specialize in emptying their husbands' pockets. As soon as they see some money there, they declare a state of emerge...

Thus Allah makes clear to you His Laws in order that you may give thought." *Thought For The Day* We often take for granted the people closest to us, especially our parents. TYPES OF HAJJ CONTINUES FROM YESTERDAY'S REMINDER

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Arbaà, 28th day of Dhul Qaādah (Wednesday 31st July, 2019). *_TYPES OF HAJJ CONTINUES FROM YESTERDAY'S REMINDER_*. *BismilLah*. The second type of hajj to note is Ifraad. Ifraad means entering ihraam for Hajj only. When the pilgrim reaches Makkah he performs tawaaf al-qudoom (tawaaf of arrival) and saa’i (to perform the going (Tawaaf) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah, the two mountains) for Hajj, but he does not shave or cut his hair and does not exit ihraam, rather he remains in ihraam until he exits ihraam after stoning Jamarat al-‘Aqabah on the day of Eid.  If he delays the saa’i of Hajj until after the tawaaf of Hajj, there is nothing wrong with that. The 3rd type is termed Qiraan. Qiraan means entering ihraam for ‘Umrah and Hajj both together. Or entering ihraam for ‘Umrah first then including Hajj in that before starting the tawaaf of Hajj. That is done by intending that the tawaaf and saa’i will be for both Hajj and ‘Umrah.  The ...

10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES (Part 11)

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 11) *9. They sense each other’s stress* You know those times when your spouse is just not being their normal self or getting ticked off by every little thing? Or when you do something special and they didn’t even seem to notice? If you look a little deeper, you’ll find there’s definitely something that’s bothering them (and it is not you). No matter how annoyingly they may be behaving, try to find out what’s wrong; *try to sense their stress* They’ll most likely be having a problem at work, be down with an illness or close to that time of the month, or the kids would’ve done a fantastic job at driving them mad all day. Shaytan waits to use these moments of stress to spark an argument, because the spouse under stress doesn’t have the energy to fight him when their mind is exhausted by other troubles. He waits for the calmer spouse to eventually get annoyed, pick up the bait and say “ *what’s gotten into you?” and BAM!* If you focus...

SEEK REFUGE WITH ALLĀH FROM WORRY AND GRIEF

*SEEK REFUGE WITH ALLĀH FROM WORRY AND GRIEF* *"Every day He is (engaged) in some affair (such as giving honour or disgrace to some, life or death to some)"* [Qur'an 55:29] I do not think that a wise man would do away with smiling or that a believer would be inclined to be pessimistic and filled with despair. A person may be exposed to circumstances that take away his peace of mind and tranquility, but, in that case, he has to trust that Allāh, the Almighty, will save him from what has befallen him. If he gives in to depression, that will mark the beginning of a total collapse of his will, and all his deeds will be affected by helplessness and incapacity. Hence, the messenger of Allāh (Blessings and Peace be upon him) used to teach his Companions to seek the help of Allāh to solve their problems. Abu Sa'īd Al-Khudri said: "The Messenger of Allāh entered the mosque one day, and saw a man from among the Ansār, whose name was Abu Umāmah. He said: 'O' ...

First, Second and Third Hadiths of the day

TYPES OF HAJJ

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Ath-thalaatha, 27th day of Dhul Qaādah,1440AH (Tuesday 30th July, 2019). *_TYPES OF HAJJ_*. *BismilLah*. There are three types of Hajj: Tamattu’, Ifraad and Qiraan. Tamattu’ means entering ihraam for ‘Umrah only during the months of Hajj (the months of Hajj are Shawwaal, Dhu’l-Qi’dah and Dhu’l-Hijjah). When the pilgrim reaches Makkah he performs tawaaf(circumambulating the Kaaba (most sacred site in Islam) seven times, in a counterclockwise direction) and saa’i(to perform the going (Tawaaf) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah, the two mountains) for ‘Umrah, and shaves his head or cuts his hair, and exits ihraam. Then when the day of al-Tarwiyah(day of Hajj), which is the 8th of Dhu’l-Hijjah, comes, he enters ihraam for Hajj only, and does all the actions of Hajj. So Tamattu’ involves a complete ‘Umrah and a complete Hajj. *To be continued tomorrow in Shaa Allah*. *_May ALLAH purify our intentions and grant us the opportunity to participate in the co...

10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 10)

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 10) *Shaytan* Remember all that incomprehensible pre-wedding drama between your spouse’s family and yours, or those regular ridiculous flare-ups that you realize made absolutely no sense after you and your spouse cooled down (e.g.: when “why did you turn off the light when you know I was reading?” ends in “marrying you was the biggest mistake of my life!” – W.H.A.T?!): yes, all those absurd, bizarre arguments that sprang out of nothing and all the other senseless discord in your marriage are the best compliments of shaytan. The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “ *Iblis (shaytan) places his throne upon water; he then sends detachments (for creating dissension); the nearer to him in rank are those who are most notorious in creating dissension. HOW TO ACHIEVE A HAPPY LIFE

*HOW TO ACHIEVE A HAPPY LIFE* *"Allāh burdens not a soul except (with that within) its capacity..."* [Qur'an 2:286] An American psychologist said: Living a happy life is fine art which entails ten things: 1. Do a work that you love. If you cannot do that, then find hobby that you love and do it in your spare time and reinforce it. 2. Take care of your health for it is the spirit of happiness. This means being moderate in eating and drinking, exercising regularly and avoiding bad habits. 3. Have a goal in life, for this will give you motivation and energy. 4. Take life as it comes, and accept the bitter and the sweet. 5. Live in the present, with no regret for the past and no anxiety about tomorrow that has not come. 6. Think hard about any action or decision, and do not blame anyone else for your decision or its consequences. 7. Look at those who are worse off than you. 8. HAJJ AND ACTS OF WORSHIP IN DHUL HIJJAH

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Al-Ithnayn, 26th day of Dhul Qaādah, 1440AH (Monday 29th July, 2019). *_HAJJ AND ACTS OF WORSHIP IN DHUL HIJJAH_*. *BismilLaah* As the hujjaaj departs towards the most important and meritorious journey of their life, we pray that ALLAH purify their intentions and accept their hajj. Aameen. Hajj is one of the best acts of worship. It is one of the pillars of Islam with which ALLAAH sent Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaiyhi wassallam and without which a person’s religious commitment is incomplete. Worship cannot bring a person closer to ALLAAH and cannot be accepted unless it meets two conditions: 1. Sincerity towards ALLAAH alone, i.e., it is done to seek the Countenance of ALLAAH and the Hereafter, and is not done to show off, to enhance one’s reputation or for worldly gain. 2. Following the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAAH be upon him) in word and deed. Following the Prophet (peace and blessings of ALLAAH be upon him) can only be achievin...

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 9) *Evil Eye* The Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam (peace and blessings of Allāh be upon him) said: “ *The evil eye is real.* ” [Ibn Majah] I am always in awe of the power of this extremely concise hadith, because it delivers three vital messages about the evil eye in one 5-word sentence: the harm of the evil eye is very, very real (in case you were even thinking otherwise) do not put yourself in its way; and take measures to protect yourself from it If you agree with point one, the second and third points just follow naturally. Muslim couples today are actually serving their marriages on exquisitely decorated social media platters for the evil eye to devour: not just the ceremony, but every single verbal and non-verbal marital exchange, meal, meeting, moment, mood and micro-second! You cannot be friends with 500+ people on social media, half of whom may be trying hard to get married for a long time and keep shoving your mari...

A GOOD ATTITUDE IS A GREAT BLESSING

*A GOOD ATTITUDE IS A GREAT BLESSING* *"And verily, your Lord will give you (all good) so that you shall be well-pleased." [Qur'an 93:5]* People are the mirror of the individual. If he behaves well towards them they will behave well towards him, so his nerves will be calmed, and he will be content, and he will feel that he is living in a friendly environment. But if a person treats others badly and is harsh towards them, he will find that people treat him badly and in a rough and harsh manner. Whoever does not respect people will not be respected by them. The one who has a good attitude will have more peace of mind and is less likely to be anxious and distressed or find himself in painful situations. In addition to that, having a good attitude is an act of worship to Allāh, the Exalted, and is something that He encourages a great deal. Allāh, the Exalted, says: *"Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant. [Qur'an 7: 199]*...

Actions that carry the reward of Hajj

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaumul Ahad, 25th day of Dhul Qaādah, 1440AH (Sunday 28th July, 2019). *_Actions that carry the reward of Hajj_* BismilLaahir Rahmaanir Raheem. Nothing of course can equal actually performing the Hajj, Umrah and worshipping ALLAH in those blessed places. However, since ALLAH knows that many people long to make Hajj and Umra every year but are unable to do so out of HIS generosity HE made the reward for certain actions similar to the reward of a supererogatory Hajj or Umra especially for those who cannot perform Hajj and Umrah so do not use any wrong income to Hajj or Umrah. The below act can earn us rewards similar to the rewards of Hajj and Umrah. Remembering ALLAH from Fajr until Ishraq. The Messenger of ALLAH (may ALLAH bless him and grant him peace) said: “Whoever who prays Subh (Fajr) in congregation and then sits in the place where he prayed remembering ALLAH (Through any zikir) until the sun rises and then prays two rakats has the reward of a co...

HAPPINESS EXISTS... BUT WHO CAN FIND IT?

*HAPPINESS EXISTS... BUT WHO CAN FIND IT?* *"... And My Mercy embraces all things..."* [Qur'an 7:156] No person can find happiness except in himself, but he has to be guided to the best way of finding it, which may be summed up as the need to be sincere, courageous, hard-working, loving towards people, cooperative and unselfish. And he should have a conscience above all else. Happiness is not a myth, it is something very real, and is enjoyed by many. We can enjoy it too, if we learn from experience and benefit from what we have gone through in life. If we are patient, we can explore and learn much from ourselves; we can rid ourselves of many physical and psychological diseases with knowledge, will-power and patience, and we can live the lives that Allāh has given us, without ingratitude, disobedience or misery. *"There is nothing more damaging to a woman's beauty than anxiety that makes her look older than her age."*

*Thought For The Day* Believe that the Almighty will protect you at all costs. As long as you have Him in your life, you’ll achieve success. If it’s good for you, He’ll make sure that you succeed. If it’s bad for you, He will take it away from you, whether you like it or not. His job is to protect you. *Excellence of remembrance and glorification of Allāh* اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرِ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَعَافِنِي وَارْزُقْنِي Allaahummaghfir lee, warhamnee, wahdinee, wa 'aafinee warzuqnee. HAJJ AND UMRAH IN REVELATION

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum As-Sabt, 24th day of Dhul Qaādah, 1440AH (Saturday 27th July, 2019). *_HAJJ AND UMRAH IN REVELATION_*. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem. Al-Hajj, Quran 22 verse 27; And proclaim to the people the Hajj [pilgrimage]; they will come to you on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every distant pass. a) Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Whoever performs Hajj to this House (Ka'bah) and does not approach his wife for sexual relations nor commits sins (while performing Hajj), he will come out as sinless as a newly born child (just delivered by his mother)." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 3/1819 (O.P.45)] See the footnote of Suurah 2 Aayah 196. Islam demolishes all the previous evil deeds and so do migration (for Allah's sake) and Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah). 10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 7)

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 7) *7. They make time for each other – no matter what!* Sorry, there’s just no excuse not to give at least half an hour (okay, 15 minutes when you’re just too exhausted) of undivided attention and love to your spouse. Because the truth is, you’re not married just to slog all day to get money home, or to produce kids and take care of them 24/7. Before you know it, your bosses and jobs will change and you’ll be retiring and replaced, and the kids would’ve married and moved out. And the only person you will be left with is that spouse (read: stranger) you always put second to everything, who would’ve become too used to being neglected over the past 30 years to be that warm companion you’ll desperately be needing in your old age. Your relationship needs exclusive attention every single day. Just like you’re saving everyday to build that comfortable house for the future. What’s the fun if you’re going to end up alone in that house, sleeping...

THE ULTIMATE HONOUR AND INFINITE GENEROSITY

*THE ULTIMATE HONOUR AND INFINITE GENEROSITY* *"And stay in your houses..." [Qur'an 33:33]* By Byzantines captured some of the Muslim women, and al-Mansūr ibn 'Ammār heard the news. They said t to him: "Why don't you go and sit near the caliph and urge the people to attack?" So he went and sat near the caliph, Harūn ar-Rashīd, in ar-Raqqah, near Damascus. Whilst Shaykh Mansūr was urging people to fight in jihād (fighting for the sake of Allāh), a tied-up bundle with a letter attached was thrown to him. Mansūr opened the letter and in it he read: "I am a woman from among the Arab clans. I heard what the Byzantines did to the Muslim women, and I heard that you are urging the people to attack. I looked for the most honourable thing on my body, and it was my two braids, so I cut them off and wrapped them in this bundle. I urge you by Almighty Allāh to make them into a bridle for the horse of a warrior fighting for the sake of Allāh. Perhaps Allāh...

They were afflicted with severe poverty and ailments and were so shaken that even the Messenger and those who believed along with him said, "When (will come) the Help of Allah?" Yes! Certainly, the Help of Allah is near! *Thought For The Day* Certainly, ALLAAH (SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA)has created the mind just like a mill, which does not stop and has to have something to grind. If grain is put into it, it would grind it, and if soil is put into it or pebbles, it would also grind them. Therefore, thoughts and ideas that occur in the mind are like the grain that is put i...

PURIFICATION OF OUR HEARTS

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaumul Jumuat, 23rd day of Dhul Qaādah (Friday 26th July, 2019). *_PURIFICATION OF OUR HEARTS_*. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem. Our beloved Messenger of ALLAH (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) was asked: “Who are the best type of people?” He replied: “A person who is truthful in his speech and Makhmoom in his heart.” the companions asked: “We know what is truthful speech, but what is a Makhmoom heart?” He (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) responded: “It is a pure pious heart that does not have envy, evil or spite.” [Ibn Maajah]. Now let's consider this short story to understand our reminder this morning: A teacher once told each child in her troublesome class to bring a plastic bag and some potatoes. Each child should put in their bag as many potatoes as the number of people they hated. Some brought two potatoes in a bag, some three and some up to five. The teacher then told the children to keep their potato containing plastic bags by their sides for a full...

10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 6)

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 6) *6. They make each other bloom* Did you know your spouse was a separate person with a unique mind, heart, body and soul before they married you? And did you know that they still are that individual person, only with you by their side? Marriages begin to go headlong into constant unhappiness when one or both spouses forget this fundamental fact: *marriage makes people partners, not parts of each other that must be controlled and bossed over* .As unfortunate as the truth may be, your spouse has a lot more roles to play in life than just being your spouse; and whenever you restrict them from doing justice to all their roles, you’re going to be the cause of their constant frustration, which will only spill into your own marital relationship. Allah Subḥānahu wa Ta’āla (glorified and exalted be He) has created each of us to contribute in so many ways during our life on this earth and has blessed us with the potential to be all that He w...

SHOWING OFF IN WORSHIP

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Dhul Qaādah,1440AH (Thursday 25th July, 2019). *_SHOWING OFF IN WORSHIP_*. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem. Whoever does any act of worship for the sake of ALLAAH and other people, his deeds will be unacceptable, as is stated in the hadeeth qudsi: ALLAH says “I am so self-sufficient that I am in no need of having an associate. Thus he who does a deed for someone else’s sake as well as MINE will have that deed renounced by ME to him who he associated with ME.” (Reported by Muslim, no. 2985). It may happen that a person starts to do a deed for the sake of ALLAAH, then the urge to show off comes over him. If he resists that impulse his deed will still be acceptable, but if he submits willingly to it, then in the opinion of most of the scholars his deed will be unacceptable. *_May ALLAH protect us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen.

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 5)

*10 HABITS OF HAPPY MUSLIM COUPLES* (Part 5) *5. They are the comfort of each other’s eyes* Happy Muslim couples strive to be the comfort of each other’s eyes. They seek to be the answer to the dua that Allah Ta’ala has taught us to make: “ *And those who say, “Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us an example for the righteous* .”” [Qur’an: Chapter 25, Verse 74] What does it take to become a beautiful sight to look at? *Smile at your spouse* When was the last time you beamed at your spouse or saw your spouse smiling lovingly at you? Okay, I shouldn’t have asked that question because you’d probably need to time travel back into the ancient past. Smile when you open the door to your tired husband, smile when you get to see your wife after a long day at work, smile at the mother/father of your child for giving you such a beautiful gift; let your smile be the last thing your spouse sees before they close their eyes to sleep. ...

DO NOT FEEL ANY REGRET ABOUT THIS WORLD

*DO NOT FEEL ANY REGRET ABOUT THIS WORLD* *"Help comes with patience."* Whosoever realizes how short this life is and how little joy there is in it, how unpredictable it is and how quickly things change for those whose main concern is this world, will not feel any regret for anything in it; they will never despair for whatever passes or feel sad about anything they have missed. For we have the Hereafter which is greater and more lasting, better than this world. So praise Allāh, for you believe in the meeting with the One, whilst others - non Muslim women - do not believe in that promised Day. Congratulations to those who believe in that Day and prepare for it. Doomed are those whose faith is weak and who forget about that Day, and get distracted by their palaces, houses, treasures and cheap luxuries. What value can there be in a palace or house or jewellery, if one has no faith? What worth can there be in status or position if you do not fear Allāh? If power, position or w...

Some Recommended Sunnah Salaat to strive for.

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Arbaā, 21st day of Dhul Qaādah,1440AH (Wednesday 24th July, 2019). *Some Recommended Sunnah Salaat to strive for.* BismilLahir Rahmaanir Raheem. ALLAH’s Messenger (May peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A house will be built in Paradise for one who offers 12 Rak'aat in a day and evening as follows: 4 Rak'aat before and 2 after the Dhuhr Prayer, 2 after the Maghrib Prayer, 2 after the ‘Ishaa’ Prayer and 2 before the Fajr Prayer." Narrated by Imam at-Tirmizi under No. 380. He said: The Hadith narrated by ‘Anbasah quoting Umm Habibah in this chapter is a hassan and sahih hadith. It is under No. 6362 in Sahih al-Jaami’. The 4 rakaats before zuhur and asr has two tashahhud but one tasleem at the end.  The ‘Asr (Late-Afternoon) Prayer has no routine Sunnah (basic recommended voluntary prayer). However, it is mustahab (preferable and recommended) that one prays 4 Rak'aat before the ‘Asr Prayer. The 4 Rak'ahs are the ones ...
