FORBEARANCE (الصبر)

*FORBEARANCE (الصبر)*

*A Trait of a Pious Believer, Allaah (ﷻ) Loves The Most*

➖➖➖

Allaah (ﷻ) says;

*إِن تُقْرِضُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا يُضَٰعِفْهُ لَكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْۚ وَٱللَّهُ شَكُورٌ حَلِيمٌ*

*“If you loan Allaah a goodly loan, He will multiply it for you and forgive you. And Allaah is Most Appreciative and Forbearing.”*

(At-Taghabun 64:17)

Forbearance is one of the qualities most liked by Allaah (ﷻ). It is a lamp of Allaah (ﷻ) which leads the holder to His excellence, and a person cannot be forbearing unless he is aided by the lights of gnosis and Tawhid.

Forbearance has five facets which include;

*1) When a person is exalted, but then humbled.*

*2) When one is truthful, but accused of being a liar.*

*3) When one calls people to the truth but gets scorned.*

*4) When one is injured without having done any crime.*

*5) And when a person demands their rights but got opposed.*

When you have given each of these its due, you have achieved the goal. When you have countered the half-wit by turning away and not answering, people will come to your aid, *_‘for he who wages war with a fool is like a man who puts wood on the fire.’_*

__

Forbearance was one of the traditions and a key characteristic of the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ), that is why He (ﷺ) was sent as a centre of forbearance, a mine of knowledge, and a home for patience.

The Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) once said to one of His Companions, Ashajj 'Abdul-Qais (رضي الله عنه); *_“Indeed there are two traits in you that Allaah loves: Forbearance and deliberateness.”_*

(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2011, Book 27, Hadith 117. Grade Sahih by Darussalam. See also, Sunan Ibn Majah, Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4188. Grade Sahih by Darussalam)

From the Hadeeth above, we will all agree that forbearance is a major characteristic we should have.

__

Allaah (ﷻ) praise the father of many nations, Prophet Ibrahim (عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ), for having this characteristic, in order to let you and I know how important it is.

Allaah (ﷻ) says;

*إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ أَوَّٰهٌ مُّنِيبٌ*

*“Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, grieving and [frequently] returning [to Allaah].”*

(Hud 11:75)

__

Allaah (ﷻ) speak to us concerning this in Noble Qur'an. Allaah (ﷻ) says;

*وَلَا تَسْتَوِى ٱلْحَسَنَةُ وَلَا ٱلسَّيِّئَةُۚ*

*“And not equal are the good deed and the bad, . . .”*

*ٱدْفَعْ بِٱلَّتِى هِىَ أَحْسَنُ*

*“. . . Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; . . .”*

*فَإِذَا ٱلَّذِى بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهُۥ عَدَٰوَةٌ كَأَنَّهُۥ وَلِىٌّ حَمِيمٌ*

*“. . . And thereupon the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.”*

(Fussilat 41:34)

If we want to obtain the good pleasure of Allaah (ﷻ), because His pleasure is closely linked with people's antipathy, we should learn to endure people's harsh rudeness.

So we should develop this character, for indeed, there is a great reward for the one who forbears for the sake of Allaah (ﷻ). This is indeed a trait that will lead us to *Jannah*.

May Allaah (ﷻ) help us to develop the spirit of forbearance.

*آمين يا رب العالمين*

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

 DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

 DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF

 DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm athalaatha, 3rd day of Rabeeul Awwal 1447AH, Tuesday, 26th August 2025. *_THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF_*. BismilLah.  Islam encourages Muslims in general to stand out among people, readily distinguishable by their dress, appearance and behaviour, so that they will be a good example, worthy of the great message that they bring to humanity. According to the hadith narrated by the great Sahabi Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam ) told his Companions, when they were travelling to meet some brothers in faith: "You are going to visit your brothers, so repair your saddles and make sure that you are dressed well, so that you will stand out among people like an adornment, for ALLAH (SWT) does not love ugliness." Reported by Imam Abu Dawud, 4/83, in Kitab al-libas, bab ma ja'a fi isbal al-izar. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) considered an unkempt and careless appearance, and scruffy clothes and furnishings, to be...
