  THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaum Al-Khamis, 1st day of Muharram (Thursday 20th August 2020). *_IS THE WIFE ENTITLED TO A MONTHLY ALLOWANCE FROM THE HUSBAND?_*. BismilLah. 


Scholars​ based on Qur'an and sunnah has explained that What the husband must do is spend on his wife on a reasonable basis, which includes the costs of accommodation, food, drink, clothing, and includes medical treatment and medicine etc. 


With regard to food, drink and clothing, that is because ALLAH, may HE be exalted, says: “but the father of the child shall bear the cost of the mother’s food and clothing on a reasonable basis” [al-Baqarah 2:233].


And the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Their rights over you are that you should provide for them and clothe them on a reasonable basis.”Narrated by Muslim (1218). 


Our wives are not our slaves, they are our companions on earth and in Paradise be-iznilLah (ALLAH willing). Even slaves had rights in Islam. We must treat them as we want our daughters to be treated in their marriage home. They must be our best friends and be treated like the way we treat our little children, with care and love. That's the teachings of Islam. Please join me say Alhamdulillah for blessing me and my family with a Baby boy this morning.
