*Haven't you Heard?*
[[------ Part Two ------]]--------------------------------
بسم الله الرحمان الرحيم
Haven't you heard that the word Alhakum. اَلۡهٰٮكُمُ is from lahv which originally means heedlessness, but in Arabic this word is used for every occupation which engrosses man so completely that he becomes heedless of the more important things in life.
When the word alhakum is made from this root, it will mean that man has become so obsessed with some occupation that he has lost sight of everything more important than it.
My people!
One of the verses in surah Al-hakum (chapter 102) which call for my concern, your concern is the last verse (verse 8). Yes. Chapter 102 verse 8, ثُمَّ لَتُسْأَلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيمِ
Translation:
"Then you will be asked about all the pleasures you enjoyed in the world" 📚Q102:8
This means that, on the Day of Judgment, all of you, all of us will be questioned whether you had shown gratitude towards Allah's favors, or did you misuse them and were ungrateful to Allah?
Muslim Faithful!
Some of these favors and bounties are explicitly mentioned elsewhere in the Qur'an:
إِنَّ السَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُولَـٰئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْئُولًا
"Surely, the ear, the eye and the heart - each one of them shall be interrogated about." 📚Q17:36
These organs and their faculties comprehend millions of blessings of Allah, and man will be questioned as to how he used them every moment of his life.
On the above,
Mujahid (رح) ، the leading authority on Tafsir, says that this question on the Day of Judgment relates to every delight of the world that he enjoyed - whether it is in connection with food, clothes, house, wife, children, kingdom, government or honor. Qurtubi, having cited this, concludes that this is absolutely true, because the question does not specify any particular blessing.
Today,
Many Android phones can give you the total number of hours you spent on every Application installed in your phone. Yes. It's true and this a call for us to watch all our actions in this world, for Angels are recording everything.
My people!
I want us to reflect on how deeply obsessed we have become with our phones—even to the point of allowing it to make us heedless. This obsession has reached a level where it distracts us during acts of worship, diminishing the sanctity of our relationship with Allah.
Imagine this: In front of a parent, teacher, or elder, we dare not press our phones, knowing it is a sign of disrespect. Similarly, no one would check their emails or scroll through social media while standing before a judge in court. Yet, we find it acceptable to do this in the house of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Where is the fear and reverence due to Allah?
It is now common to see people, right after the Tasleem (concluding the prayer), immediately take out their phones to check WhatsApp messages or jumping from one social media site to another instead of engaging in Adhkar (remembrance of Allah). Worse still, during the Friday Khutbah, a sacred moment when we are commanded to be silent and attentive, many are distracted by their devices.
This behavior contradicts the essence of Ihsaan, as described by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: "Ihsaan is to worship Allah as though you see Him, for even though you do not see Him, He sees you." 📚(Reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
سبحانك اللهم وبحمدك نشهد ان لا اله الا انت نستغفرك ونتوابوااليك
