Ruling on talking while imam delivers khutbah.

It is haraam to talk while imam delivers the khutbah.

As reported,

The messenger of Allah PBUH said,

Anyone who talks while imam delivers khutbah is like a donkey carrying many books and the one who says keep silent has no reward of the prayer.

Sahih by tirmidhee.

The only place or situation to talk while imam delivers khutbah is when harm is coming to people or when the imam ask the person something while on the mimbar.

As reported in hadith,

A man entered the masjid and the messenger of Allah PBUH asked him as the man sat saying,

Have you prayed the two voluntary prayer of friday, the man said,No!

The messenger of Allah PBUH said to the man,

To stand and pray the two nawafil prayer of friday.

Sahih.
