Is it allowed to speak out publicly the sins of another Muslim?
Alhamdulillah, a muslim should conceal the sins of his brothers so Allah will also conceal his sins.
As reported in the hadith,
Narrated Abu Huraira:
I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying. "All the sins of my followers will be forgiven except those of theMujahirin (those who commit a sin openly or disclose their sins to the people). An example of such disclosure is that a person commits a sin at night and though Allah screens it from the public, then he comes in the morning, and says, 'O so-and-so, I did such-and-such (evil) deed yesterday,' though he spent his night screened by his Lord (none knowing about his sin) and in the morning he removes Allah's screen from himself."
Sahih al-Bukhari 6069.
This hadith teaches us that we should hide our sins and not expose them for Allah hates one to expose sins publicly because it means one is not regretting of his sins.
A man asked Ibn `Umar, "What did you hear Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying regarding An-Najwa (secret talk betweenAllah and His believing worshipper on the Day of Judgment)?" He said, "(The Prophet (ﷺ) said), "One of you will come close to his Lord till He will shelter him in His screen and say: Did you commit such-and-such sin? He will say, 'Yes.' Then Allah will say: Did you commit such and such sin? He will say, 'Yes.' So Allah will make him confess (all his sins) and He will say, 'I screened them (your sins) for you in the world, and today I forgive them for you."'
Sahih al-Bukhari 6070.
Abu Hurairah (May Allah bepleased with him) reported:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "He who removes from a believer one of his difficulties of this world, Allah will remove one of his troubles on the Day of Resurrection; and he who finds relief for a hard-pressed person, Allah will make things easy for him on the Day of Resurrection; he who covers up (the faults and sins) of a Muslim, Allah will cover up (his faults and sins) in this world and in the Hereafter. Allah supports His slave as long as the slave is supportive of his brother; and he who treads the pathin search of knowledge, Allah makes that path easy, leading to Jannah for him; the people who assemble in one of the houses of Allah, reciting the Book of Allah, learning it and teaching, there descends upon them the tranquillity, and mercy covers them, the angels flock around them, and Allah mentions them in the presence of those near Him; and he who lags behind in doing good deeds, his noble lineage will not make him go ahead." [Muslim]
Riyad us saliheen
Book 1, Hadith 245.
May Allah safeguard us and make us conceal the secrets of others. Aamin
