*THE GREAT BATTLE OF BADR continues*
*PROPHET MUHAMMAD (Blessings and Peace be upon him) SUPPLICATES HIS GOD (ALLĀH)*
The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) continued supplicating Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala) and pleading Him for the promised victory by saying: "O Allāh! Accomplish what You promised me. O Allāh! I do beg of You Your promise." When fight intensified and the battle reached its apex, the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: "O Allāh! If this band of people (Muslims) should be killed today, You will not be served. O Allāh! If You will allow them to be killed, You will not be worshipped any longer." The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) supplicated for a long time to the point that his cloak fell off his shoulders. Abu Bakr put it on and said: "That's enough, Allāh's Messenger. You have supplicated your God (Allāh) in a pressing way." At this moment, Allāh revealed to His angels:
Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 12:
(Remember) when your Lord inspired the angels, "Verily, I am with you, so keep firm those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who have disbelieved, so strike them over the necks, and smite over all their fingers and toes."
He revealed to His Messenger:
Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 9:
(Remember) when you sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): "I will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession."
It means that they will fight you in turn or come in successive groups.
THE ANGELS DESCEND
The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) took a nap then he raised his head and said: "Good tidings for you, Abu Bakr! There is angel Jibreel (Gabriel) driving his horse with its fetlocks covered with dust." Ibn Is'hāq narrated that the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: "Receive the good tidings, Abu Bakr. Allāh's victory has come. This is Gabriel holding the reins of his horse and driving it with its fetlocks covered with dust." Then the Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) got out of his booth protecting himself with a breastplate and saying:
Surah Al-Qamar, Verse 45:
Their multitude will be put to flight (defeated), and they will turn their backs (in retreat).
Then he took a handful of pebbles and threw them at the faces of the polytheists saying: "Let their faces be deformed." The pebbles already hit their nostrils, eyes and mouth. Concerning this Allāh (Sub-haanahu wata'aala) says:
Surah Al-Anfal, Verse 17:
You killed them not, but Allah killed them. And you (Muhammad [Blessings and Peace be upon him]) threw not when you did throw but Allāh threw, that He might test the believers by a fair trial from Him. Verily, Allāh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.
*{To be continued In-sha-Allāh (If Allāh Wills)...}*
*"And keep reminding, because reminding benefits the believers."* (Qur'an 51:55)
