*THE CONQUEST OF MECCA continues*
*THE MUSLIM ARMY MARCH TOWARDS MECCA*
In Ramadān, 8 A.H., the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) and ten thousand Muslims marched towards Mecca. He appointed Abu Ruhm Al-Ghifary to take charge of Madīnah.
At Al-Juhfah, Al-'Abbas Ibn 'Abdul-Mutallib, the Prophet's uncle, and his family met the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) and announced their conversion to Islam. Abu Sufyān Ibn al-Hārith and 'Abdullāh Ibn Abu Umayya met their cousin Muhammad (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) at Al-Abwaa; yet, he returned away from them because of inflicting severe harm on him previously. Umm Salamah asked the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon) to forgive them. 'Ali also asked Abu Sufyān to plead the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) for pardon, citing the words of Joseph's brothers in the Glorious Qur-ān:
Surah Yusuf, Verse 91:
قَالُوا تَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ آثَرَكَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْنَا وَإِن كُنَّا لَخَاطِئِينَ
They said: "By Allah! Indeed Allah has preferred you above us, and we certainly have been sinners."
'Ali added: "He won't let anyone give a statement better than him." Abu Sufyān recited the aforementioned verse and the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him), accordingly, forgave him, quoting Joseph's words:
Surah Yusuf, Verse 92:
قَالَ لَا تَثْرِيبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ يَغْفِرُ اللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَهُوَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ
He said: "No reproach on you this day, may Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy!
Then the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) gave him a pat on the chest and said: "You made me so impressed."
THE MUSLIM ARMY ENCAMPS AT MAR AZ-ZAHRĀN
The Muslims, while fasting, marched on till reaching Al-Kudaid, a well between 'Usfān and Qudaid, where they broke their fasting. Then, they proceeded and reaching Marr Az-Zahrān, where they camped and the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon) ordered them to light as many as ten thousand fires for cooking purposes. 'Umar commanded the guards.
{To be continued In-sha-Allāh (If Allāh Wills)...}
"And keep reminding, because reminding benefits the believers." (Qur-ān 51:55)
