*THE CONQUEST OF MECCA continues*
*THE MUSLIM ARMY PROCEED TOWARDS MECCA*
On Tuesday morning, 27th Ramadān, 8 A.H., the Muslim army left Marr Az-Zahrān and headed towards Mecca. The Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) asked Al-'Abbās to detain Abu Sufyān at a commanding gorge to see the huge Muslim army while moving towards Mecca.
When Abu Sufyān saw the Muslim tribes raising their flags while passing by him, he got astonished. When at last he saw the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) marching among the Immigrants and the supporters, he wondered at their power, saying: "O Abu Al-Fadl, the sovereignty of your cousin became too boundless." Al-'Abbas said: "It is the power of Prophethood."
Sa'ad Ibn Ubādah, who was carrying the flag of the supporters, said while passing by Abu Sufyān: "Today will witness the great fight and the humiliation of Quraish, none can seek sanctuary at the Sacred House."
Abu Sufyān complained about this to the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon) who said: "No! Today the Sacred House will be sanctified and Quraish will be honoured." Then, he ordered that the banner should be given to his son Qais. Some historians said that the flag was given to Az-Zubayr.
PEOPLE OF QURAISH ARE SURPRISED BY THE MUSLIM ARMY
Abu Sufyān hurried up to his people, shouting at them: "O people of Quraish, Muhammad is coming to you with a great army, so whosoever enters my house is safe." His wife Hind bint 'Utba tugged his moustache and dispraised his stance.
All people mocked at him and then scattered in different directions. Yet, he reiterated his warning, saying: "He who takes refuge in Abu Sufyān's house is safe, whosoever confines himself to his house is safe and he who enters the Sacred Mosque is safe."
A group including 'Ikrimah Ibn Abu Jahl, Safwān Ibn Umayya, Suhail Ibn 'Amr and Himas Ibn Qais, gathered at Al-Khandamah to fight the Muslims.
THE MUSLIM ARMY AT DHU TUWA
At Dhu Tuwa, the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) started to lay out a military plan for penetrating into Mecca. He appointed Khālid Ibn Al-Walīd as a leader over the right wing that includes Aslam, Sulaim, Ghifar, Muzainah and Juhainah tribes. He ordered them to enter Mecca from the south. Meanwhile, Az-Zubayr Ibnul-'Awwām was assigned the leadership of the left flank and was given to the banner. The Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) ordered him to enter from the north, from Kadā, and to fix the banner at Al-Hajoun. Abu 'Ubaidah, the commander of infantry and unarmed soldiers, was ordered to penetrate via a side valley.
THE MUSLIM ARMY ENTER MECCA
Each battalion of the Muslim army followed the instructions of their supreme commander, the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) and advanced through different routes. On their way to Mecca, Khālid Ibnul-Walīd and his brigade killed twelve of the ruffians of Quraish: yet, two Muslims were martyred, Kurz Ibn Jābir Al-Fihry and Khunais Ibn Khālid Ibn Rabī'ah, because they swerved from the path of their army. At the same time Khālid and his troops managed to defeat Himās Ibn Qais (who was preparing weapons for fighting Muslims) and forced him to stay at home.
The platoon has successfully broke up into Mecca and met the Prophet (Blessings and Peace of Allāh be upon him) at As-Safā. On the other hand, Az-Zubayr reached Al-Hajoun where he fiked the flag.
