THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yaumul Jumuat, 28th day of Muharram 1444AH. (Friday, 26th of August 2022).
*_ARGUING ABOUT THE RELIGION MUST BE AVOIDED_*. BismilLah.
Arguments over issues in the religion of Islam should be avoided as much as possible. Disputing and debating theological, legal, or historical matters will often lead to the hardening of hearts, bad feelings, and even hatred. As such, the Prophet has warned us that the nations before us went astray due to their indulgence in argumentation. Let's avoid any form of argument especially with other sects etc. Let's share our authentic knowledge with them and make dua for Allah to guide them and keep guiding us all.
Our beloved Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, his family and companions said:
مَا ضَلَّ قَوْمٌ بَعْدَ هُدًى كَانُوا عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا أُوتُوا الْجَدَلَ
No people go astray after being guided except that they indulge in arguments. Then the Prophet recited the verse:
مَا ضَرَبُوهُ لَكَ إِلَّا جَدَلًا بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٌ خَصِمُونَ
They strike an example for you only to argue. Rather, they are a quarrelsome people. (43:58). Sunan At-Tirmidhi 3253. Debate is different to arguments. Scholars can debate with non Muslims in particular to establish the truth from falsehood. Two Muslim scholars may also debate to establish a rulings based on Qur'an and Sunnah to ensure religious innovations and falsehood is made known to Muslims but regardless, division must be avoided.
*_May ALLAH keep guiding us all and increases us in beneficial knowledge_*. Aameen.
