 *THE SUNNĀHS OF ATHAN (CALL FOR PRAYER)* There are five Sunnah actions (i.e. Prophetic actions) recommended by the Prophet – Peace be upon him - Upon hearing the call for the prayer, as mentioned in Zad Al Ma’ad Book, by Ibn Al Qayyem:  1-The hearer should repeat after the Mo’athen (The one who calls for prayer) all words except when the Mo’athen says: (Hayyah Ala As-Sala – i.e. hasten to the prayer) and (Hayyah Ala Al-Falah – i.e. hasten to the salvation), the hearer should say:   لَا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِاللَّهِ  (La Hawla Wala Quwata Ella Belllah – i.e. there is no might and no power except by Allah).  When Insulting the Prophet ﷺ Becomes a Political Tactic  This is not the first time that the act of insulting our Prophet ﷺ has been used as a political tool. Those who understand our faith  comprehend how sacred our Prophet ﷺ is to us, and know full well the implications of such provocation. Hence, at times they use this provocation as a tactic for sinister political means. One of the first times this occurred was during the early period of Andalusian history. Beginning from around 850 CE and lasting for at least a few decades, a strange phenomenon arose: Christian saints and leaders would walk to the city center of Cordoba, in front of the Grand Mosque (pictured below), and loudly and unequivocally shout out blasphemies against the Prophet ﷺ , using the most vulgar language and foul imagery imaginable. It is well-known that the hadiths that have been soundly narrated from the Prophet (ﷺ) are very many, and the seeker of knowledge who is at a beginner or intermediate level cannot learn all of them, but there are some books on this topic which can be referred to, such as ‘Umdat al-Ahkaam by ‘Abd al-Ghani al-Maqdisi (may Allah have mercy on him); al-Arba‘een an-Nawawiyyah by an-Nawawi (RAHIMAHULLAAH); and other brief books.
