DOES taken a FLU-SHOT invalidate our fasting

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS.  Yaum Al-Khamis. 28th day of Sha’abaan. (Thursday, 31st of March, 2022). *_DOES taken a FLU-SHOT invalidate our fasting_* Bismillah.  According to the most preferred position of scholars in Islam, receiving Flu-shot does not invalidate the fast since it does not fall under the category of consumption of food or drink, which we are ordered to refrain from while fasting. It is necessary to point out that the above rule should not be extended to receiving injections of nutrients or glucose; such injections will surely break the fast. If, therefore, a person must receive such injections in the day time during the month of Ramadhan because of health reasons, he or she is allowed to skip and make up for it after Ramadhan. But normal injection which does not contain any nourishment or nutrients doesn't invalidate the fast. Similarly, inhaler does not invalidate our fasting.  *_May ALLAH keep guiding us and protect us from any satanic influences_*. ...

Ramadan Donation Plan

*Ramadan Donation Plan* ~~~~ Assaalam Alaikum dear esteemed members, After giving so much thoughts on this year's Ramadan donations, we devised a plan as follows: 1. First and foremost, the main focus is to support orphans and widows. We may, consider one or two special cases after attending to our primary concern. The choice of orphans and widows is necessary bcos they are the most vulnerable in the society (especially now). Plus the fact that helping the orphans is one of the greatest acts of charity in the sight of Allah. 2. The plan is to feed at least 100 people from beginning of Ramadan to the end. Thus, every week, we will feed 25 people. In four weeks, we will insha Allah feed upto 100. 3. In order to achieve our set target, we need at least ₦500,000. This means every week, we will raise at least ₦125,000. 4. To effectively contribute the money we are going to sell Ramadan feeding shares worth ₦500,000. Each share costing ₦500 and ₦1000. In essence, a member can purchase a...

The dignity of honouring our neighbours

The dignity of honouring our neighbours. Alhamdulillah, being kind to our neighbours is part of the teachings of Islam Allah says in Qur'an, An-Nisa' 4:36 Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good, and to relatives, orphans, the needy, the near neighbor, the neighbor farther away, the companion at your side, the traveler, and those whom your right hands possess. Indeed, Allah does not like those who are self-deluding and boastful, We have neighbours closer to us and those who are our travellers company. The messenger of Allah pbuh said the neighbours are those who forty at right, left, east and south. 'A'isha reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Jibril, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, kept on recommending that I treat neighbours well until I thought that he would order me to treat them as my heirs."  Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 101. Abu Shurayh al-Khuza'i reported that the Prophet, may Allah ...

The sunnah is 90% of Islam

The sunnah is 90% of Islam Alhamdulillah, let's thank Allah for this deen and our scholars who strive to protect and safeguard this ummah from being misguided and astray. The sunnah means path..it is the path of rasulullah s.a.w which he left for this ummah. He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah; but those who turn away – We have not sent you over them as a guardian. The Quran tells us to follow the messenger of Allah pbuh to teach us the way to Allah. Allah says, Al-Baqarah 2:151 Just as We have sent among you a messenger from yourselves reciting to you Our verses and purifying you and teaching you the Book and wisdom and teaching you that which you did not know. The sunnah is the wisdom and teachings of Qur'an. Those who reject the hadith narrated by sahaba either hate the sahaba or the prophet pbuh. Because how to pray, the athan...

Marriage and why do We marry.

Marriage and why do We marry. Alhamdulillah, the word marriage النكح is sunnah of the prophets as all prophets were given families as they are descendant of one another. Allah says, Aal-e-Imran 3:34 Descendants, some of them from others. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing. There are three things that makes marriage accepted. The mahr or bride price, the acceptance of wali and the two just witness among Muslims. It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that: the Messenger of Allah said: “There is nothing like marriage, for two who love one another.” Vol. 3, Book 9, Hadith 1847. Thawban said: “When the Verse concerning silver and gold was revealed, they said: 'What kind of wealth should we acquire?' Umar said: 'I will tell you about that.' So he rode on his camel and caught up with the Prophet, and I followed him. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah what kind of wealth should we acquire?' He said: 'Let one of you acquire a thankful heart, a tongue that remembers Allah and a b...

Fear of Allah and what is it?

Fear of Allah and what is it? Alhamdulillah, الخشي لله is to fear Allah meaning to follow his commands as much as one can and avoid what he forbid  Allah says in Qur'an, Yunus 10:62 Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve – Yunus 10:63 Those who believed and were fearing Allah. Yunus 10:64 For them are good tidings in the worldly life and in the Hereafter. No change is there in the words [i.e., decrees] of Allah. That is what is the great attainment. On the authority of Abu Dharr Jundub ibn Junadah, and Abu Abdur-Rahman Muadh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Have taqwa (fear) of Allah wherever you may be, and follow up a bad deed with a good deed which will wipe it out, and behave well towards the people. It was related by at-Tirmidhi, who said it was a hasan (good) hadeeth, and in some copies it is stated to be a hasan saheeh ha...

The story of istighfar

The story of istighfar. Alhamdulillah, as we are getting to Ramadhan, we need to make istighfar as Allah is ready to accept our repentence if we are sincere  Allah says, At-Tahrim 66:8 O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow [on] the Day when Allah will not disgrace the Prophet and those who believed with him. Their light will proceed before them and on their right; they will say, "Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent." Jundub bin 'Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Once someone said: 'By Allah! Allah will not forgive such and such (a person).' Thereupon Allah, the Exalted and the Glorious, said: 'Who is he who takes an oath in My Name that I will not grant pardon to so-and-so? I have granted pardon to so-and-so and rend...

On the Discourse of Beating Women

On the Discourse of Beating Women May peace be upon you - a while ago, I wrote about a woman-beater who beats his wife and then divorced her. Today, I want us to look at the issue of beating women from a different dimension. Before I dwell on it, I will, first of all, give a disclaimer. I condemn domestic violence, I condemn women maltreatment and I don't support men who engage in doing so. Please note that. One would say why are women are beaten? Is it a general experience that every woman is beaten by her husband? The answer is no. So why do some men beat their wives? Some men a naturally too harsh and not too easy to accommodate. They lack anger management and self-discipline. When they are angry, they yell, beat or curse. Such is bad behavior and it could lead to bad parenting and raising violent kids. At times, women, I must say, are the ones causing such eventualities (i.e. beating and other domestic problems). As a woman, you should know that the following attitudes, or rat...

AS RAMADHAN APPROACHES, CAN I COOK FOR A HUSBAND WHO CHOOSES NOT TO FAST WITHOUT ANY VALID REASON BUT STILL CLAIMS HE IS A MUSLIM WITHOUT EVEN PRAYING

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS.  Yaum Arba'a. 27th day of Sha’abaan. (Wednesday, 30th of March, 2022). *_AS RAMADHAN APPROACHES, CAN I COOK FOR A HUSBAND WHO CHOOSES NOT TO FAST WITHOUT ANY VALID REASON BUT STILL CLAIMS HE IS A MUSLIM WITHOUT EVEN PRAYING_*. BismilLah.  A wife do not owe the duty of cooking or serving food or drink to her spouse who does not fast during the days of Ramadhan, if he does so without having any valid reason (of sickness, or old age) that would excuse him from fasting. Since we are not allowed to condone or help someone who is committing a sin, by serving him food and drinks, you are also guilty of a sin if you do so. It is common knowledge in Islam that skipping fasts without valid reason of sickness, travelling difficulties due to old age, is considered a cardinal sin. If a husband does not have a valid excuses not to fast. The husband is guilty of even a graver sin by not praying; even greater than all of these is his denial of his obligation...

BE POSITIVE ALL THE TIME AND STOP THINKING NEGATIVE

THE DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS.  Yaum Ath-thalaatha. 26th day of Sha’abaan. (Tuesday, 29th of March, 2022). *_BE POSITIVE ALL THE TIME AND STOP THINKING NEGATIVE_*. BismilLaah. The Messenger of ALLAH, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, said: وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ Whoever believes in ALLAH and the Last Day, let him speak goodness or remain silent. Sometimes Satan will throw evil suggestions into our minds. These suggestions have no power over us unless we choose to act on them. If we follow an evil or negative train of thought, then it will lead us to a terrible end. Thus, when we find ourselves caught up in a bad line of thinking, we need to immediately replace these negative thoughts with positive inward statements to cancel their effects by reciting zikir or seeking protection from ALLAH saying AuuzubilLah minash-sheitaanir rajeem. The Messenger of ALLAH, peace and blessings be upon him, said: وَأَت...

Is the zakah on trade goods due on mobile phone apps and computer programs? If someone wants to download a program or app, he pays money for that, but the app or program is still offered in the App Store, or on the Internet, for anyone who wants to download it from others, if they pay for it

If someone wants to download a program or app, he pays money for that, but the app or program is still offered in the App Store, or on the Internet, for anyone who wants to download it from others, if they pay for it.*  *I think that the user agreements of the program state that the user does not own the program; rather he is given a license to download  and use a copy of the program, whilst all rights of ownership remain with the company that made the program, for example. So the price that the user pays to download it is no more than a few dollars, but when the company wants to sell the program to another company, for example,* *with all the rights of ownership, so that all profits resulting from the program ...

There is a Muslim brother who did not fast the month of Ramadan for four consecutive years, because he lives in a European country where the day is relatively long, and he did not have knowledge about how to fast, so he did not fast, even though he was able to do so, and he fed poor people commensurate with the number of days that he did not fast in Ramadan. Now he has grown very old. How can he expiate for not fasting the month of Ramadan in the past? Can his heir make up the fasts for him if he dies?

Can his heir make up the fasts for him if he dies?* *Answer* *Praise be to Allah.* *Firstly:* The fact that days are long in Ramadan is not regarded as a valid excuse that allows one not to fast. This man made a mistake by not fasting during the days of Ramadan, even though he was not sick or travelling. No one has an excuse for not fasting becaus...

I have grown my hair long and my parents are forcing me to cut my hair. In this particular case is it mandatory to obey them?

In this particular case is it mandatory to obey them?* *Summary of answer* *1.. If your parents instruct you to cut your hair in a permissible manner, you are not obliged to obey them in that, because obeying parents is only required in that which is beneficial to them. As for that in which there is no benefit for them, the child is not obliged to obey them in that. 2.. Even though obeying parents is not obligatory in this case, our advice to you, if cutting your hair will not look bad on you or harm you, and the most that can be said is that they are choosing for you something that you would not choose for yourself, is to obey them, even if you do so reluctantly and it goes against your preferences, because obeying parents is a m...

Some people say that women are lacking in reason and lesser in their faith, inheritance and testimony. Others say that Allah rewards and punishes both men and women equally. What is your opinion in this regard? Are women in a lower status than men, according to the Shari`ah (Islamic law)?

❓Do women lack in anything according to Shari`ah? Q: Some people say that women are lacking in reason and lesser in their faith, inheritance and testimony. Others say that Allah rewards and punishes both men and women equally. What is your opinion in this regard? Are women in a lower status than men, according to the Shari`ah (Islamic law)? 🅰️ : Islamic Shari`ah honors women and raises them to a lofty status, with the aim of protecting them and preserving their dignity. Thus, a woman's guardian or husband is obligated to provide for her, support her, answer to her needs and live honorably with her. Allah states: ...and live with them honourably. It has been also confirmed that the Prophet (peace be upon him) stated, "The best of you is the best to his family and I am the best to my family." ➡️Moreover, Islam grants a woman all the appropriate rights and legal responsibilities. Allah states: And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) si...

If I were to travel on the 30th day of Ramadaan from London just after Magrib time, after having broken my fast and I were to arrive at my destination in the USA but to find that they are still in the day time of their 30th day of Ramadaan, what should I do?

So, if they were still observing fasting then you should observe fasting with them even if that means you would be fasting for more than 30 days [the max. number of days, normally observed in the month of Ramadaan]. This is the opinion of Shaikh Abdul-Azeez Ibn Baaz.

I am currently being treated with chemotherapy for liver cancer, which involves daily tablets and intravenous injections. My doctor advised me not to fast, because of the general weakness caused by chemotherapy and the need to drink fluids continually. The treatment will last for six months, then my case will be re-evaluated to find out how successful the treatment has been. It may require two further months of treatment, or using another kind of treatment if there has been no progress, such as radiation therapy or surgical intervention. I hope that you can explain to me what is required of me with regard to this month that I could not fast. If I pray Taraweeh at home, because I am not able to go to the mosque, will the reward of qiyaam (praying at night) be recorded for me? What should I do if I cannot pray qiyaam one night because of being so tired? Should I make up this prayer on the following day?

SOME OF THE MINOR SIGNS OF RESURRECTION – 215

They said, 'No.' He said, 'I can see tribulations falling among your houses like rain. (N1)  Bukari narrated it. First of all, I would like to thank you – after Allah – for the efforts you are making, and I ask Allah to place it in the balance of your good deeds and to benefit thereby everyone who reads it, Muslim or otherwise. My question may be summed up as follows: I found a job three years ago and I get a good salary from it, praise be to Allah. But after I worked out the time when my wealth reached the nisaab (minimum threshold at which zakaah becomes obligatory) it became clear that it was due in the month of Jumaada al-Aakhir, but without meaning to, I paid it in the month of Ramadan, thinking that I could choose the time to pay it. This continued for two years, but now I would like to ask about this year: can I pay zakaah in the month of Ramadan as I did in the two previous years, or should I pay it in the month of Jumaada al-Aakhir? Are there any consequences as a result of having delayed it in the two previous years; in other words, should I work out the value of zakaah for each month and pay zakaah for the months during which I delayed it? Please note that in the month of Ramadan I paid zakaah on all the wealth that I had my possession including that which I had obtained after the month of Jumaada al-Aakhir.

Is it true that sayi’aat (bad deeds) are multiplied in Ramadaan? Is the same true of hasanaat (good deeds)? Is there any evidence to that effect?

*السَّـــــــلاَمُ عَلَيــْــكُم وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكـَـاتُه* *بِسْــــــــــــــــــــــمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيْم*           *R A M A D A N* *Question* *Is it true that sayi’aat (bad deeds) are multiplied in Ramadaan? Is the same true of hasanaat (good deeds)? Is there any evidence to that effect?.* *Answer* *Praise be to Allah.* Yes, both hasanaat and sayi’aat are multiplied at special times and in special places, but there is a difference between the multiplication of hasanaat and the multiplication of sayi’aat. The multiplication of hasanaat is in both quantity and quality. What is meant by quantity is number, so a good deed is multiplied by ten times the like thereof; and what is meant by quality is that the reward is great and vast. With regard to sayi’aat, it is multiplied in terms of quality only, i.e., the sin is greater and the punishment is more severe. Another scholar – someone other than a...

My question is about fasting. But it is not concerning the Holy month Ramadan. I mean fasting when one wants to marry but has not the ability to do this at the moment. I know that in Islam it is prescribed for this purpose, but I do not know what is the right ruling on this. I would like to learn the exact time for iftar and sahur, how many days in the month one should fast, and exactly which day of the week it is supposed to be as well. Please provide me with as many details as you can about that. And Allah knows best. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon all of you.

Why are the Muslims not united in their fasting even though there is only one new moon for Ramadaan? In the past there was the excuse of there being no media or means of communication.

In the past there was the excuse of there being no media or means of communication.* *Answer* *Praise be to Allah*. *Firstly:*  The most likely reason for the differences in the start of the fast from one country to another is the difference in sighting the new moon. Such differences are well known and it makes sense that there are such differences.  Based on this, it is not possible to expect all the Muslims to start fasting at the same time, because this would mean that some of them were starting to fast before the new moon had been sighted and even before it had appeared.  Shaykh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked about those who call for the ummah to be uni...

What is the ruling on offering congratulations for the beginning of Ramadaan by saying “Kull ‘aam wa antum bikhayr (roughly equivalent to “Many happy returns” – traditional Arabic phrase of congratulations on occasions such as Eid etc.)?
