Timing of starting Sawm for residents in non-Muslim countries

Timing of starting Sawm for residents in non-Muslim countries

From ‘Abdul-’Aziz ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Baaz to the honourable sister in Islam, may Allah grant you success. Aameen!

As-salamu ‘alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh (May Allah's Peace, Mercy, and Blessings be upon you!)

I received your letter dated 6/10/1389 AH and understood what you meant. Many thanks for your congratulations on ‘Eid-ul-Fitr (the Festival of Breaking the Fast). May Allah accept our Sawm (Fast) and many returns for all Muslims hoping them all goodness and integrity. He is the Best One asked for help.

With regards to your question about the permissibility of observing and breaking Sawm in Ramadan according to crescent sighting in Saudi Arabia during your stay in Spain, there is no harm in doing so. The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Start fasting on sighting the new moon (of Ramadan), and give up fasting on sighting the new moon (of Shawwal), and if the sky is overcast (and you cannot see it), complete the term as thirty (days of Sha’ban.)” This Hadith applies to all Muslims. Saudi Arabia is the most entitled country to be followed as it rules according to Shari’ah (Islamic law). May Allah grant it more success and guidance! There is nothing wrong with your act because Spain does not rule according to Islam and its people do not care about it.

Concerning the issue of combing two Salahs (Prayers), the matter is flexible. The Purified Shar’ (Islamic law) allows combining two Salahs at the time of the earlier one or at the time of the later one or in the in-between time. Due to lawful excuses (i.e., sickness and travel), the two combined Salahs can be performed at the same time. It is permissible, when it is necessary, to talk at the interval between the two combined Salahs. Time for Witr (Prayer with an odd number of units) starts after offering the ‘Isha' (Night) Prayer, even if it is combined with the Maghrib (Sunset) Prayer at the time of the Maghrib, and continues until the time for Al-Fajr-ul-Sadiq (true dawn) begins. I ask Allah to grant us and you comprehension of religion, let us adhere to it until we meet Him, and cure you and help you return home safely, for He is the Most Generous.

As-salamu ‘alaykum warahmatullah wabarakatuh

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Ath-thalaatha. 28th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Tuesday 7th May 2024). *_GIVE CHARITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD_*. Aameen.  Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: The Prophet (SallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "Charity is obligatory everyday on every joint of a human being.* If one helps a person in matters concerning his riding animal by helping him to ride on it or by lifting his luggage on to it, all these will be regarded as charity. A good word, and every step one takes to offer the compulsory congregational prayer is regarded as charity; and guiding somebody on the road is regarded as charity." [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 4/2891]. To show gratitude to ALLAH for keeping your body safe and sound, you should give in charity or do charitable deeds. Narrated Abu Hurairah [radhi-yAllahu 'anhu]: ALLAH'S Messenger (sallallahuAlaihiWasallam) said, "The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength, but the strong is the one w...

IMPORTANCE OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE An obligation upon every Muslim

﷽ ➖➖➖ *IMPORTANCE OF SEEKING KNOWLEDGE* ➖➖➖ *An obligation upon every Muslim* ➖➖➖  Allah ﷻ says  *وَعَلَّمَ ءَادَمَ الأَسْمَآءَ كُلَّهَا* _And He taught Adam all the names of everything_ Meaning, the names that people use, such as human, animal, sky, earth, land, sea, horse, donkey, and so forth, including the names of the other species" *ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلَـئِكَةِ* _Then He showed them to the angels_ Meaning, the creations.
