I found it strange that Allah SWT is addressing the believers (O you who have believed) and then commanding them to ‘Believe’, ‘Have eman’ again!
▪ To ask believers to believe might at first seem strange.
_The fact is, however, that belief as used here has two meanings.
🔹. First, belief denotes that a man has preferred to acknowledge the soundness of true guidance, to distance himself from the fold of those who disbelieve, and to join the camp of the believers.
🔹. Second, belief denotes faith, a man's believing in the truth with all his heart, with full earnestness and sincerity.
__*PAGE 2*__.

_It denotes man's sincere determination to mould his way of thinking, his taste and temperament, his likes and dislikes, his conduct and character, his friendship and enmity, and the direction of his efforts and striving, in conformity with the creed which he has resolved to embrace.
_*This verse is addressed to all those who are 'believers' in the first sense of the term, and they are asked to change themselves into true believers, i.e. believers in the second sense*.

_Allah ﷻ says that everyone is preoccupied by the love of the world, its delights and its adornments._
_This distracts us from seeking the Hereafter and desiring it. The repentance is delay until death comes to us and we visit the graves, thus becoming its inhabitants.                    ▪ In Saheeh Al-Bukhari, it is recorded that Ubayy bin Ka
b said, “We used to think that this was a part of the Qur’an until the Ayah was revealed which says;
*أَلْهَـكُمُ التَّكَّاثُرُ*

He was referring to the Hadith in which the Prophet said,
لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادٍ مِنْ ذَهَب

▪ Imam Ahmad recorded from
Abdullah bin Ash-Shikhkhir that he said,
“I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was saying". _*‘The mutual increase diverts you. Suratul Baqarah starts
with “Alif Laam Meem“.
I● n Arabic, these words are called  *Haroof Muqattaat.*
● These haroof will always be written together but read separately.
_There are different opinions about these words. Following are a few of them:_
🔹 It can be a name of Allah or name of a surah.
🔹 There is no meaning of these words.
🔹 Allah is most knowledgeable and we don’t know their meaning.
🔹Alif means Allah, Laam means Jibreel ‘alayhi salaam, Meem means Muhammad salAllahu ‘alayhii wa sallam.
🔹 Better to be quiet and don’t give any opinion whether it has a meaning or does not have a meaning.
___*PAGE 9*___.
✍️...

🔹 Opinion is of Ibn Tayyimiah
He said these words are used to astonish the people of Arab/mushrikeen who disclaimed the Qur’an by saying that this book is written by a human being and they can produce something like that.
It was a challenge to the mushrikeen to bring a simple Surah if they were right in their claim.
🔹 Opinion of Maudidi (Tafheem al Quran) is that at the time of the Qur'anic revelation the use of such letters was a well-known literary device, used by both poets and orators, and we find several instances in the pre-Islamic Arabic literature that has come down to us.
___*PAGE 10*___.
✍️...

Since the  muqatta'at were commonly used the Arabs of that period generally knew what they meant and so they did not present a puzzle.
We do not notice, therefore, any contemporaries of the Prophet (peace be on him) raising objections against the Qur'an on the ground that the letters at the beginning of some of its surahs were absurd.
For the same reason no Tradition has come down to us of any Companion asking the Prophet about the significance of the muqatta'at.
_Later on this literary device gradually fell into disuse and hence it became difficult for commentators to determine their precise meanings.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD

*BEST TIME FOR TAHAJJUD* It is best to delay this prayer to the last third portion of the night. Abu Hurairah reports that the Messenger of Allah said: "Our Lord descends to the lowest heaven during the last third of the night, inquiring: 'Who will call on Me so that I may respond to him? Who is asking something of Me so I may give it to him? Who is asking for My forgiveness so I may forgive him?"' This is related by the group. 'Amr ibn Abasah reports that he heard the Prophet say: "The closest that a slave comes to his Lord is during the middle of the latter portion of the night. If you can be among those who remember Allah, the Exalted One, at that time then do so." This is related by al-Hakim who grades it sahih according to Muslim's standards, and at-Tirmizhi calls it hasan sahih. AnNasa'i and Ibn Khuzaimah also recorded it. Abu Muslim asked Abu Zharr: "Which late-night prayer is the best?" He said: "I asked the Messenger of A...
