The dangers of Riyaa

 The dangers of Riyaa'.

Alhamdulillah, Riyaa is very dangerous.

As we know it nullifies our deeds, but does not take us out of the religion.

Riyaa' is small shirk and that is what the messenger of Allah PBUH feared for his ummah.

As Allah says in Quran,

Al-Baqarah 2:264

يَآأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تُبۡطِلُواْ صَدَقَٰتِكُم بِٱلۡمَنِّ وَٱلۡأَذَىٰ كَٱلَّذِي يُنفِقُ مَالَهُۥ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤۡمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۖ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ صَفۡوَانٍ عَلَيۡهِ تُرَابࣱ فَأَصَابَهُۥ وَابِلࣱ فَتَرَكَهُۥ صَلۡدࣰاۖ لَّا يَقۡدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءࣲ مِّمَّا كَسَبُواْۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يَهۡدِي ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ

O you who have believed, do not invalidate your charities with reminders [of it] or injury as does one who spends his wealth [only] to be seen by the people and does not believe in Allāh and the Last Day. His example is like that of a [large] smooth stone upon which is dust and is hit by a downpour that leaves it bare. They are unable [to keep] anything of what they have earned. And Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.

Allah says those who give our charity to be seen of men and praised rather the seeking reward from ALLAH  do not believe in the last day.

Because of a person believes in the last day(Qiyaamah), he will not do a deed to seek pleasure of people rather than Allah.

Allah says,

An-Nisa' 4:38

وَٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَهُمۡ رِئَآءَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَلَا بِٱلۡيَوۡمِ ٱلۡأٓخِرِۗ وَمَن يَكُنِ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ لَهُۥ قَرِينࣰا فَسَآءَ قَرِينࣰا

And [also] those who spend of their wealth to be seen by the people and believe not in Allāh nor in the Last Day. And he to whom Satan is a companion - then evil is he as a companion.

Today, a person wants to do charity or a good deed but will place a camera for everyone to see him, making tawaf with selfie, even praying the Solaah has turned into selfies and camera for people to like and praise us.

This destroys our deeds and make us seek the approval of people's in our ibadah
