DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm al-ithnayn, 26th day of Muharram 1447AH, Monday, 21st July 2025.
*_MANNERS OF ASSEMBLY AND GATHERINGS_*. BismilLah.
Because Islam is a complete way of life, it has guidance for all aspects of life for those who choose to follow the Qur'an and Sunnah. Among the complete and balanced ways of life are the etiquette or manners when we gather anywhere which Imam An-Nawawi records in his book Riyad us-Saliheen:
Ibn Umar reported: The Messenger of ALLAH, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Do not ask someone to give up his seat/space to another, but rather make it easy and provide accommodation. Sahih Muslim 2177.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of ALLAH, peace and blessings be upon him, said, If a man stands from his seat and later returns to it, then he is more entitled to it. Sahih Muslim 2179.
This sunnah teaches us NOT to request someone to give up his or her space to someone who attends a gathering late including jamaat salaat in masjid unless the person voluntarily decides that. Please also note that among the means to earn rewards is to respect elders and the learned as such giving up your seat or space to such people earns you good rewards and also shows your good character and that can easily even earn you a good recommendation for a wife or job etcπ.
*_May ALLAH Azzawajal keep guiding and protecting us from any satanic influences_*. Aameen.
