*This is the story on which is based the name surah Baqarah (The Cow)*
An Israeli man had been killed and there was no information about the murderer. While the people were arguing Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala sent a command to Musa ‘alayhi salaam to instruct his people to slaughter a cow._
_The slaughtering of the cow was a mean for discovering the identity of the murderer._
Ibn Abi Hatim recorded ‘Ubaydah As-Salmani saying.

*“There was a man from among the Children of Israel who was impotent*
*He had substantial wealth, and only a nephew who would inherit from him.*
*So his nephew killed him and moved his body at night, placing it at the doorstep of a certain man.*
The next morning, the nephew cried out for revenge, and the people took up their weapons and almost fought each other. The wise men among them said, ‘Why would you kill each other, while the Messenger of Allah is still among you?’
So they went to Musa and mentioned the matter to him and Musa (‘alayhi salaam) said,
*Indeed, Allah commands you to slaughter a cow*.

*The Children of Israel asked if he was making fun of them.*
*Prophet Musa replied that was not of the ignorant or the foolish.*
They disputed and asked unnecessary questions, hoping that by doing so perhaps they would no more be required to carry out the command. But no! Because of their asking unnecessary questions the matter was made more difficult for them.
‘Ubaydah As-Salmani said, “Had they not disputed, it would have been sufficient for them to slaughter any cow. However, they disputed, and the matter was made more difficult for them, until they ended up looking for the specific cow that they were later ordered to slaughter.

They found the designated cow only with a man who owned that cow.
*He said, ‘By Allah! I will only sell it for its skin’s fill of gold.’*
So they paid the cow’s fill of its skin in gold, slaughtered it and touched the dead man with a part of it.
*He stood up, and they asked him, ‘Who killed you?’*
*He said, ‘That man,’ and pointed to his nephew.*
*He died again, and his nephew was not allowed to inherit him.*
*Thereafter, whoever committed murder for the purpose of gaining inheritance was not allowed to inherit.”*
And Allah knows best.

When Musa‘ alayhi salaam conveyed them the command of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, they asked if he was making fun of them.
Prophets and Messengers of Allahsubhanahu wa ta’ala do not make fun of their people. *?? Then why did the Children of Israel say such a thing???*. It is because they had lived under the slavery of the Egyptians who worshiped idols.
*One of their idols was cow.*
_(Idol of Firaun and his people is cow😋)_
*Living with the Egyptians, the reverence of the cows had seeped into the hearts of the Children of Israel.*
*Therefore, they could not accept slaughtering something that they revered.*

*Let's continue on this verse*👇.                                      Baqarah Ayah 83

*And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah ; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing*

In this ayah, Allah ﷻ reminds the Children of Israel about His commandments, and the covenants that He took from them. They had promised that they will abide by those commands; however, they intentionally and knowingly turned away from all of that.
*Components of covenant*
▪.  Allah ﷻ have commanded them to worship Him and to associate none with Him in worship, just as He has commanded all of His creatures, for this is why Allah ﷻ created them. _This is the highest and most important right, that is, Allah’s right to be worshipped alone without partners._
▪. After that comes the right of the creatures, foremost, the right of the parents.
___*PAGE 8*___.
✍️...

Allah ﷻ usually mentions th seee rights of the parents along with His rights.
The Messenger ﷺ was asked about the best deed. He replied, “Performing the prayer on time.” He was then asked about the next best deed, he replied, “Being kind to one’s parents,” and then striving in the cause of Allah ﷻ_
▪. After the rights of parents come the rights of the relatives – this includes the rights of the in-laws.
_A married person should treat his/her parents-in-law as he/she treats his/her own parents._
▪.  Next, come the rights of the orphans who have no fathers to fend for them, and the Miskeen (the poor). This includes everyone who is weak and dependent.
___*PAGE 9*___.
✍️...

_Allah ﷻ also commanded that do ehsaan to them.__Ehsaan includes financial help, mentoring, helpful advice, and any other deeds of goodness._
_*‘Adl [justice] is replicating what others do; ehsaan is giving someone more than their right.*__*This is real Deen – the rights of ﷻ + the rights of the people.*_
▪. “And speak good to people,” means say good words to everyone that you meet and be lenient with them.
_Hasan Al-Basri commented: speak good means commanding good and forbidding evil, and being patient and forgiving. The ‘good’ also includes every good type of behavior that Allah ﷻ is pleased with.
___*PAGE 10*___.
✍️...

Do ehsaan with those who are closed to you in relation and also the weak and needy, but speak a good word with all the people whether known or unknown.
▪. Establish prayer
▪. Give zakat
▪ _Allah ﷻ informs us that the People of the Book, except for a few among them, ignored these orders, that is, they knowingly and intentionally abandoned them._
We have been given a similar command in Surah An-Nisa.

NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDERS. Yawm Arba'a. 29th day of Shaw'waal, 1445AH (Wednesday 8th May 2024). *_NOTHING HAPPENS WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF ALLAH_*. BismilLah.  Even though feelings of Panic, stress/worries etc are part of life, they must not reduce our acts of worship or trust in ALLAH. The more a man turns to ALLAH and focuses on HIM, the more he will feel a sense of peace and comfort, to an extent that no one knows except ALLAH. Hence those who know ALLAH, are close to HIM and fear HIM are the happiest of people, to such an extent that one of them said, in a well-known expression: “If the kings and the sons of kings knew what joy we have, they would fight us for it with the sword.” This is also what is expressed in the Qur’an, as ALLAH says: “Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while he (or she) is a true believer (of Islamic Monotheism) verily, to him ALLAH will give a good life (in this world with respect, contentment and lawful provision), and ALLAH will ...

HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yaum Al-Khamis, 22nd day of Jumaadal Uula 1447AH, Thursday, 13th November, 2025.  *_HELPING OTHERS WITH INTENTION FOR ALLAH'S HELP IN RETURN_*. BismilLah.  When we help our brothers and sisters in Islam, in reality, we are helping ourselves. The Messenger of ALLAH (S.A.W) said: He who relieves the hardship of a believer in this world, ALLAH Azzawajallah will relieve his hardship on the Day of Judgment. He who makes easy what is difficult, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will make it easy for him in the world and the hereafter. He who conceals the faults of a Muslim, ALLAH ALLAH Azzawajallah will conceal his faults in this ALLAH Azzawajallah world and the Hereafter, for ALLAH helps the servant as long as he helps his brother. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ "Muslim 2699. AlhamdulilLah.  With this I hope with immediate effect we will all strive to help each other in any possible way such as making dua for each other, supporting our relatives and those in need in ou...

THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF

DAILY ISLAMIC REMINDER. Yawm athalaatha, 3rd day of Rabeeul Awwal 1447AH, Tuesday, 26th August 2025. *_THE MUSLIM WOMAN AND HER OWN SELF_*. BismilLah.  Islam encourages Muslims in general to stand out among people, readily distinguishable by their dress, appearance and behaviour, so that they will be a good example, worthy of the great message that they bring to humanity. According to the hadith narrated by the great Sahabi Ibn al-Hanzaliyyah, the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam ) told his Companions, when they were travelling to meet some brothers in faith: "You are going to visit your brothers, so repair your saddles and make sure that you are dressed well, so that you will stand out among people like an adornment, for ALLAH (SWT) does not love ugliness." Reported by Imam Abu Dawud, 4/83, in Kitab al-libas, bab ma ja'a fi isbal al-izar. The Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) considered an unkempt and careless appearance, and scruffy clothes and furnishings, to be...
