Otherwise, the believers might think that the hypocrites were believers when in reality they are disbelievers.
To consider the sinners as righteous people is extremely dangerous.

They thought since nobody knows their internal feelings they are deceiving the Muslims,
but in reality they were only deceiving themselves.
● Therefore, through this ayah He warned Muhammad ﷺ to be careful of these people. 
● They only accepted Islam for the worldly benefits. 
_*We can easily judge a munafiq person by his self-contradictory statements and behavior and should, therefore,  deal with him consciously.*

*Let's continue on this verse*👇.                           [2:10] Al-Baqarah-الْبَقَرَة
"فِیۡ قُلُوۡبِہِمۡ مَّرَضٌ ۙ فَزَادَہُمُ  اللّٰہُ  مَرَضًا ۚ  وَ لَہُمۡ عَذَابٌ اَلِیۡمٌۢ  ۬ۙ بِمَا کَانُوۡا یَکۡذِبُوۡنَ ﴿۱۰﴾

In their hearts is a disease. So Allah has worsened their disease. And for them, there is painful punishment because they used to tell lies.

● The disease in their hearts is the disease of ‘doubt.
● Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala has increased them in their doubts.
“A disease in the religion, not a physical disease.

👉 _*They are the hypocrites and the disease is the doubt that they brought to Islam.*_
‘And Allah has increased their disease’ means, increased them in their shameful behavior.”
● Here, Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala tells us another trait of the hypocrites (munafiqeen).

*Their hearts are full of desires, worldly plans, and doubts about Deen.*_
👉Their disease of lust has been increased because they did not worry about it or sought treatment for it.
*Why did their disease become incurable?*
The answer is their doubt in Qur’an and Prophethood. The insincere man who thinks he can get the best of both worlds by compromising with good and evil only increases the disease of his heart. Even the good that comes to him, he can pervert to evil. 
_"So the rain, which fills out the ear of corn or lends fragrance to the rose" also lends "strength to the thorn or adds strength to the poison of the deadly nightshade.

● *Another trait is their lies*
* they are habitual to lie to themselves and to others.
* If anyone likes to avoid punishment he should leave lies.
* They are told you will have grievous penalty because you are in habit of lying and you are also untrue to yourself. 
*عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ*
*Aleem Azab is big punishment;*
▪ _Never exaggerate things just for fun or to increase your importance in eyes of others., as is common in social gatherings where someone is sought for his/her abilities to humour people_
*It is false and disliked by Allah*

*Let's continue on these verses*👇.                         [2:11] Al-Baqarah-الْبَقَرَة
"وَ اِذَا قِیۡلَ لَہُمۡ لَا تُفۡسِدُوۡا فِی الۡاَرۡضِ ۙ  قَالُوۡۤا اِنَّمَا نَحۡنُ مُصۡلِحُوۡنَ ﴿۱۱﴾

When it is said to them: ‘Do not spread disorder in the land,’ they say: ‘It is we who reform.’.                                [2:12] Al-Baqarah-الْبَقَرَة
"اَلَاۤ اِنَّہُمۡ ہُمُ الۡمُفۡسِدُوۡنَ وَ لٰکِنۡ لَّا یَشۡعُرُوۡنَ ﴿۱۲﴾

Beware! (Truly) it is they who spread disorder, but they do not have any sense (of it) at all.

● Allah is warning them not to cause corruption on earth, leave your evil actions.
They make people believe they are peacemaker but in actual they are encouraging evil.
● *Their mischief is disobeying Allah*, because whoever disobeys Allah on the earth, or commands that Allah be disobeyed, he has committed mischief on the earth.
Peace on both the earth and in the heavens is ensured (and earned) through obedience (to Allah). 
●  Since the outward appearance of the hypocrite displays belief, he confuses the true believers.

Hence, the deceitful behavior of the hypocrites is an act of mischief, because they deceive the believers...
🔹 by claiming what they do not believe in.
🔹They give support and loyalty to the disbelievers against the believers.
_*If the hypocrite remains a disbeliever (rather than pretending to be Muslim), the evil that results from him.  would be less.* (the hypocrites are designated to the bottom of jahannum along with firaun).
_Even better, if the hypocrite becomes sincere with Allah and makes the statements that he utters conform to his deeds, he will gain success.

In ayah *2:12* too the main address is to the hypocrites.
_When they are told not to cause mischief on the earth they say, *“We are peacemakers”.*
Allah confirms in this ayah that indeed they are the ones who cause corruption, but they do not have this realization.

*أَلا إِنَّهُمْ هُمُ الْمُفْسِدُونَ وَلَـكِن لاَّ يَشْعُرُونَ*
*“Unquestionably, it is they who are the corrupters, but they perceive [it] not.”*
 ● Hypocrites (munafiqeen) think that they are reformers but as they have lost the ability to perceive.
so Allah is explaining in that Quran that actually these are the people who are creating corruption. But they do not realize it.
