FAJR REMINDER: *A WAY TO HUGE REWARDS*

Muḥarram 22, 1447 (17-July-2025)
In Islām, there is a distinctive prayer known as Ṣalāh al-Janazah, which is performed for the deceased Muslim before burial. This prayer is unique in that it does not include Rukū'u (bowing), Sujūd (prostration), or sitting. It consists of four Takbīrat (Allāh-Akbar) and concludes with a single Taslīm, specifically Assalāmu ‘Alaykum wa Raḥmatullāh (to the right). It is conducted in a congregation to seek forgiveness for the deceased.
According to Islāmic teachings, observing Ṣalāh al-Janazah for the deceased is considered Farḍ Al-Kifāyah, which means it is a collective obligation for Muslims. The Prophet (ﷺ) highlighted the rewards that Allāh has ordained for those who participate in this prayer. He stated: *“Whoever attends the Janazah until it’s finished, will earn a Qirat, and whoever stays until the burial, will earn two Qiratayn.” When someone inquired about the meaning of Qirat, the Prophet explained: “It means rewards as big as Uhud.”* [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 945]
It is encouraged for Muslims to come together in large numbers to perform Ṣalāh al-Janazah, as it brings great benefits to both the deceased and those who partake in the prayer. A’ishah (Raḍiyallāhu ‘Anha) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: *“A Muslim man does not die while forty men pray over him, who do not associate any partners with Allah, but that Allah will accept their intercession for him.”* [Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 948]
It is important to note that participants must sincerely seek Allāh’s Forgiveness for the deceased and ensure they are true Muslims, not polytheists. Additionally, Ṣalāh al-Janazah is offered in silence, except for the Takbīr and Taslīm. The usual conditions for prayer apply, including Taharah (Cleanliness), Wuḍūʼ (ablution), and facing the Qiblah.
I beseech Allāh to forgive the deceased Muslims, grant them mercy, and provide them with Paradise in the Hereafter. Aameen.
