● They are not interested in emaan.
▪ Some of them think if we read and understand Quran then it will be obligatory to act on it.
▪ They realize that they are wrong but give logics for their wrong deeds.
● _*Finally they refuse to accept guidance*_
It is their weakness of faith. Allah makes every work of munafiq profit less.

● The hypocrites when they bought deviation in exchange for guidance, thus acquiried utter blindness. 
● When the fire was suddenly extinguished total darkness covered this person, and he became unable to see anything or find his way out of it.
● Further, this person could not hear or speak and became so blind that even if there was light, he would not be able to see.
👉This is why he cannot return to the state that he was in before this happened to him.
_Such is the case with the hypocrites_

*ذَهَبَ اللَّهُ بِنُورِهِمْ*
*“Allah removed their light"...* _Allah removed what benefits them, and this is the light and He left them with what harms them, that is, the darkness and smoke._
*وَتَرَكَهُمْ فِي ظُلُمَـتٍ*
*“And left them in darkness”,*...their doubts, disbelief and hypocrisy.
_*Those who don’t want help Allah also doesn’t help them.*_
*لاَّ يُبْصِرُونَ*
*“So, they could not see”*...they are unable to find the correct path or find its direction.

*Ayat 18:*

*صُمٌّ بُكْمٌ عُمْىٌ فَهُمْ لاَ يَرْجِعُونَ*

*“Deaf, dumb and blind – so they will not return [to the right path]"*. Some additional  characteristics of the hypocrites are that theyo are deaf, dumb and blind;
The only thing visible to them is the difficulties in the way of Islam, but they cannot observe the permanent benefits out of these difficulties.
*They cannot return to guidance as they do not wish to.*

*Let's continue on this verse*👇.                           [2:19] Al-Baqarah-الْبَقَرَة
"اَوۡ کَصَیِّبٍ مِّنَ السَّمَآءِ فِیۡہِ ظُلُمٰتٌ وَّ رَعۡدٌ وَّ بَرۡقٌ ۚ یَجۡعَلُوۡنَ اَصَابِعَہُمۡ فِیۡۤ  اٰذَانِہِمۡ مِّنَ الصَّوَاعِقِ حَذَرَ الۡمَوۡتِ ؕ وَ اللّٰہُ مُحِیۡطٌۢ بِالۡکٰفِرِیۡنَ ﴿۱۹﴾

Or their example is like a rain pouring from the sky wherein there are layers of darkness and thunder and lightning (as well). They thrust their fingers into their ears, fearing death due to the thunder. And Allah has encompassed the disbelievers.

▪ *The first parable* *(*Quran 2:17*)* refers to those hypocrites who disbelieved completely but had become Muslims merely, to further their worldly interests.
▪ *The second parable*   in this provided verse refers to those who were prone to doubt and hesitation or whose faith was weak; who believed in the Truth but not to the extent of exposing themselves to hardships for its sake.
*The 'violent rainstorm'* here alludes to Islam, which came to the world as a blessing.

*'Pitch-dark clouds, thunder and lightning'* refer to trials, tribulations and difficulties which confronted the Islamic movement, owing to the violent opposition and resistance of those committed to Ignorance.
▪ _The last part of the parable portrays the state of mind of the hypocrites.
They move a little ahead when circumstances seem favourable, but when either difficulties cloud the horizon, or when they are given directives which run counter to their desires or inherited prejudices, they are seized with alarm and come to a halt.

▪ Just as God has completely deprived the first category of hypocrites of their 'light of perception', He could have rendered these other hypocrites totally blind and deaf.

_*But it is not God's way to deprive anyone of sight and hearing while he is willing to see and hear.*
_*Hence, God allowed them to retain their sight and hearing to the extent they were prepared to see and hear the Truth.*

_This is another parable, which Allah gave about the hypocrites who sometimes acknowledge the truth and at other times doubt it._

*كَصَيِّبٍ*
*here means “heavy rainfall”. This refers to the revelation (wahi).*
*This rainfall contains "darkness, thunder and lightning" means that the revelation that is being sent from high above contains "warning, promises, glad tidings as well as hope"*

▪ Upon hearing thunderclap, the hypocrites would insert their fingers in their ears.

Why?

*It was because the thunderclap here refers to warnings.*
The hypocrites knew that these warnings are about them and the condition of their hearts was such that they did not want to listen to these warnings.
They were afraid of death because of the consequences of their actions that they will have to face in the Hereafter.
